Welcome to Wolves Kawabe

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars said: “Naturally, Hayao is a player we’ve watched a lot and he’s done really well this season.
“He’s an attacking midfield player, very energetic, very busy, and has good quality. He’s really shone at Grasshoppers this year, and he’s one of the main reasons they’re doing so well.

“Due to the GBE criteria for signing international players, Hayao is a player who is eligible to sign for a British club this month, but may not be in the future, which is why we’ve moved now to confirm his signing.

Oh interesting. I knew that him and Gomes had come in for training, didn't realise we were signing Kawabe - off to check his clips :D

Edit: he's 26?!

Never heard of him. Not keen on his hair cut either. Hopefully someone has some info on him?

I imagine straight back on loan to grasshoppers. This has been a case of work permit timing forcing the issue.

Yeah he's going to spend the month here then likely go back the article says.

Seeing the season out at Grasshoppers after a month training with Wolves, presumably during their winter break.

Having seen the impact Kyogo has had at Celtic I'm a lot more open to this transfer than I would've been a few months ago. The J league is underrated and there's definitely a few gems to be found there.

Yeah, and Japanese players are typically very hard working, both on and off the pitch. However, his record in terms of goals and assists is far from spectacular, which is a major point of concern, given that he's played in tinpot leagues (in comparison to the PL).

A massive difference in quality though, I'd assume the level Kawabe is playing at is similar to the teams Kyogo has scored against in the SPL.

Raul wasn't that spectacular beforehand, whereas Frankowskis was excellent........go figure :)

Kyogo has been quality in Europe as well. He's excellent, would love him at Wolves.

Well the Grasshopper fans don’t seem happy with this on two fronts.

1. that their team is now a feeder club, or “farm club”, as it seems to translate to on Twitter

and 2. That he’s miles off being Premier League quality

So far, we’ve recalled two loan players and signed this bloke that no one has heard of. It doesn’t exactly fill you with confidence, does it?

Any news on you crediting Jeff Shi with signing Jose Sa, Jinks? As apparently he's in charge of everything and you love Jose Sa.

You can't cherrypick if that's your stance.

I don't care about this signing btw, I doubt he'll play a league game for us.

Now who’s picking fights ;)

Any news on you giving credit to Jose Sa for being an excellent keeper and not a “dickhead who’s not very good”?

Happy to give credit to Shi for the Sa signing, or to whoever advised him on it. Excellent bit of business and was obvious early doors that he was an improvement on the version of Patricio we sold.

Unfortunately our poor (or total lack of) business still outweighs the good, so Shi still gets the brunt of my frustration.

He's a decent keeper, he's not excellent. He has bugger all to do most of the time.

I presume you'll also be crediting Jeff Shi, supremo of it all, for signing Max Kilman for a bag of balls and a set of cones.
