Welcome to Wolves - Nathan Collins

Yes he’s let us down frequently this season. Emperors new clothes CB who looks the part but gives away goals and gets sent off.
Let us down frequently? We got one ofcthe best defences so far this season. Yesterday he had a rush of blood which I put down to inexperience and he lost Kane for a goal, hardly frequently. Collins and Kilman are the least of our problems.

I put this on the verdict thread, but apparently that's 4 reds in less than 70 league appearances. That's something that needs eradicating if true
Has been 4 times although one at Stoke was successfully appealed, seems was a coming together and the forward went down, other one at Stoke was for mistimed tackle (sounds familiar), don't know what one at Burnley was for, resulted in a penalty so might have been last man

Yep he is 21, was also excellent against Spurs upto then, shame that he lost concentration for 5 seconds but Kane is one of the best in the world

Collins is excellent. All the tools to be something pretty special I think.
I agree. He does always have a mistake in him though and it's always concentration based. That will come together with experience though.

Depends what for. Yesterday was obviously bizarre but without knowing the nature of the others it’s hard to draw a conclusions from such a small sample when one card is a 33% increase.

Could have been a last minute second yellow to stop a counter or last man challenge. Obviously if there is multiple serious foul play/violent conduct then that is a problem.

Well I’ve now done some digging.

Got sent of last year in the 92nd minute against Burnley for “double jeopardy” shove on Toney. Soft as shit and fucking harsh tbh.

Got a sending off for Stoke against Barnsley which was later overturned and was labelled “farcical”. https://www.balls.ie/football/nathan-collins-red-card-overturned-451771

Got sent off in the League Cup a year earlier. Nathan Jones said it was harsh. Doesn’t look particularly bad on this still but that means nothing. https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/spo.../stoke-crawley-nathan-collins-red-3357226.amp

His yellow card record is actually decent too.

The amount of time it’s taken me to post this in between doing other things I see the question has already been answered by Donegal anyway but I’ve commited now.

Pretty certain one of those red cards was when he was playing for the Irish u 21s , important match too . Prone to rash tackles , let's just say .

Interesting that there are a fair few comments saying he’s been very good for them at times.

Yeah most Brentford fans think he’s been fine this season tbf. Although I’d say the majority of our fans thought he was alright as well if you looked away from here.

I think they’ve played him in a back three at times which to be fair I can see him being very good at. He has all of the attributes to be a good defender, he can just make very costly mistakes.

Reading the end of that thread, some are going down the 'he's only...'rabitthole. That only ever ends in elongated pain

Burnley fan here.

The signing of Nathan Collins is all but complete with only the finer details to be confirmed but wanted to say you've got yourselves a bargain.

Some of you might be baulking at a seemingly large fee for a young defender but this guy has the lot. He has great feet, is composed on the ball, solid and extremely strong. He's quick and fierce in the tackle and indominatble in the air.

Coupled with that is a reading of the game that belies his youth. Above all his physical attributes this might be his biggest strength. Oh, and he's capable of popping up with 5 or 6 goals a season.

I'm not really one for hyperbole and I've never bothered to post anything like this in the past. You've just bought a world class defender. He needs to focus a tad more but this guys really has it all.

Only CB I've ever seen close to this good at such a young age was when we had Gary Cahill on loan for a year. However, Collins is much more accomplished than Cahill looked, even though we were only Championship level when we had Cahill. How many England caps did Cahill win? Well, you've just bought a player who is better than that.

Expect a Champions League team to be bidding silly money (much closer to his true worth) IRO £70-£80 million for him next summer.

All the best,

Rowls
This Rowls fella is no mystic meg!
