Welcome to Wolves - Nathan Collins

Got to go down as a success for Sellars and by extension, Shi? Lowish fee given his age and how highly rated he is, you'd think would have had interest from elsewhere and he's picked us, signed in time for our pre-season tour (such as it is), clearly nothing to do with Mendes or any other third party?

Easy to fling shit at them when they get stuff wrong (they've got a ridiculous amount of stuff wrong since 2020 in particular), only right they get credit when they get it right (or at least on the face of it. I once thought Havard Flo and Oleg Luzhny were good signings. I was wrong)
Oleg Luzhny! That does bring back bad memories! He was only with Wolves for the pay.

Can't remember who's old gold club episode it was now but they said Luzhny regularly used to get vague "injuries" in the Friday training sessions before a game.

Might well have been Naylor. Irwin was supposed to play about 50% of the minutes he actually did. The poor bugger was totally done and exposed, he couldn't jump let alone run and turn, but he shouldn't even have been there.

Any signing in an position we needed to bolster is good - only seen him once for Burnley, but seems to come with a decent rep so good to see him here.

Still need a midfielder, preferably one who has a more attack mind & principally a striker. Fabio has, I think, been punted out on loan (been otherwise occupied so not really paying that much attention) so very limited options there.

Plus with Chinquino's injury may need another option out wide - suspect we may end up with Adama back unless someone pays money for him - can live with that even if I don't know what he will do at any point - then again nor does he or anyone else so we are all in the dark.

Delighted with this signing. It's not Mendes and it's sort of from the Championship, hopefully the sign of a widened recruitment process. Not sure it guarantees the movement to 4 at the back though, even though I hope it is. Could easily be the rch in a 3

Same, shows a bit of imagination

Mind you, I'm just happy we've finally signed someone!

Paul Butler.

Apparently Irwin had arthritis in both of his toes, must have been agony.

edit: both of his big toes, i wasn't suggesting he only has 2 toes...

I think the most important thing is it allows us some genuine flexibility with the system. I can see us playing a back 4 against bottom half teams/clubs in & around us where we can be a bit more expansive, but reverting to a back 5 against the top clubs where our best tactic is to try and hit them on the break. There’s a lot to come out in the wash in terms of how that would work I.e. would it be Kilman/Collins first choice in a 4 with Coady slotting in to the middle against the top sides? And would Coady be happy with that as club captain and a World Cup place up for grabs? I’m not so sure - but it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

Welcome aboard, Nathan. Pleased to have you here!

I'd just temper this slightly by adding that if they'd listened to you and I last June they'd have saved £8m! Better late than never.

To get into credit sellars and Shi need to
Make another 5 or 6 signings as good as this before the end of July.

I love Coady, he's an absolutely top bloke. Playing in a 3 he's serviceable, even though at times last season it looked like he was running through treacle. Playing him in a 4 can't be a consideration, surely?

Definitely got a bit of a Poundland Chris Hemsworth vibe going on.
