Welcome to Wolves - Nathan Collins

This is laughable.

I'm not their greatest fan but they're not buying 6 or 7 players in a window. That's just nonsense.
I didn’t say they would buy 5 or 6 players.
Someone said they deserve some credit which they might do (stopped clocks etc).

I simply expressed an opinion that their credit/goodwill balance is so overdrawn that this signing only pays back 17-20% of it.

And we just know there’s another Kieffer waiting to happen…

17%? Right…

I’d say the last 2 years there has been a lot of frustration, and rightly so. If we sign another 2 players of this hype/standard this window then surely it will go down as a good window, for which they will deserve credit.

I get the heightened frustration, but if we take it back, we have finished 10th or above 3 of our last 4 seasons in the top league. The owners haven’t destroyed the club, and one good window can quite easily point us in the right direction.

Now we have made a signing, and in the face of it, a good signing at that, everyone should be a lot happier, bud wait and see wha comes next this window?

That looks more like the gesture I made when we signed Hayao Kawabe, Frank Nouble or Eggert Jonsson.

I'm late to this but a good signing, probably the first time I have been really enthused about us getting a player since summer 2018! Matches the sort of profile we need for the defence, gives us room to be tactically versatile, and for once we have shown we can look for talented players without relying on Mendes.

The signs on this one are good and the club have done well this time. Was feeling very pessimistic about upcoming season but this transfer means things are looking a bit better. Hopefully a couple more smart signings to follow.

Interesting. Semedo enthused me although I thought he was overpriced, the profile of Vallejo did, but that went quickly, RAN looked decent on paper. Neto/Jordao I was half wrong about, Fabio probably right. Sa, Podence meh. Hwang we knew was shit before he agreed to sign him

I just wanted to voice a word of caution around placing all of our hopes & expectations onto such a young man's shoulders.

I can understand people getting hyped about RAN or Silva but I didn't know anything about them prior and didn't pretend to so can't say they excited me, the fee for the latter raised alarm bells immediately rather than excited me but I might have been in the minority at the time (can't recall).

Vallejo didn't have much profile, barely played for Real so seemed like a gamble on a young player.

I doubt anyone was excited about Neto and Jordao, I'll happily admit I thought they were nothing more than a favour for Mendes.

Hwang is probably the opposite in that most of us were actively hoping he wasn't signed.

Moutinho (and slightly before him Patricio) probably the last players Wolves signed in which all of the fanbase was thrilled about. Maybe Cutrone too actually although his previous season at Milan was pretty poor!

More than a useful step-up for the lad if it be accepted Wolves as a viable top six outfit. Most young defenders who have had a few first team appearances in the Premier League will do the basics well and he appears no different. Hope him and Killman hit it off. Prefer a 4-4-2 and not unduly concerned if CC is displaced.

I imagine/hope we will look into a 4231, with our current squad:

------------Sa
Jonny Collins Kilman RAN
-------Joao Neves
Podence MGW Neto
-----------Raul

That would be the best formation you would think.

I can see why we'd want another ball carrying midfielder and wide midfielder as Chiquinho is injured and Traore is being sold. Maybe Campbell or Corbeanu comes of age.

And we're definitely a striker light.

So do we think he is likely to leave the skipper out then?
I think it'll be a gradual thing, Collins may well end up as our team captain, with Coady as the club captain.

All this said, Coady may well get himself 100% fit and revel in a back 4, he's met positional challenges well in the past, and he has a superb attitude, i haven't written him off yet.
