Welcome to Wolves Nelson Semedo

Think I saw this claiming Semedo wasn’t an upgrade on Doherty, Miguel Delaney also had a dig during the city game calling us Sporting Mendes Fc
I'm not sure why people get so defensive over things like that. Let's face it from the outside looking in we are, there's not a lot of point trying to pretend otherwise.

The bit I take exception to is when they suggest it's only a matter of time before he shafts us.

Yup, if this was any other team we would be joining in. Like the days of Chelski etc

Maybe he did, makes him even more culpable than if he was ignorant to his own limitations then in that case.

Ultimately it's the employers responsibility to hire the right people.

If I was nearing retirement and was headhunted by someone offering me a job that I didn't think I was particularly suited to but it included a massive pay rise I think I'd probably be tempted to take the opportunity to top up my pension pot. My mindset would be completely different if that opportunity presented itself right now as I've still, unfortunately, got some way to go until retirement so would rather play the long game and maintain my career rather than get that black mark of failure on my CV when I'd inevitably get found out.

So not only have Wolves had Spurs pants down, Doc has too.

I’m happy enough to go along with that to be fair.

Seems mad that Jose bought Doc to play as a RB, akin to buying Adama and then playing as a RWB long term.

It's this mental lopsided idea he's got where one full back pushes right on and the other one fills in to make a sort of back three. It just looks a total mess. As weird as us playing Dave Edwards on the left of a midfield diamond or having a 4-4-2 with literally no-one on the left wing. Great days.

Sounds like a decent signing though have never seen him play, but 30 odd games for Barcelona last season should mean that he's not a complete donkey even if they are on the wane just now.

As to whether he's an upgrade then we will see, though despite Matt doing the best he could that's not a particularly high bar.

One of the things that stands out in his highlight vids on youtube is that he can play a mean through ball and his ability to collect passes under pressure.

As ever, though, youtube can deceive. Jurgen Locadia looked alright on youtube.

His general performances have definitely improved which is encouraging. Hopefully he will get even better next season. Still feel he has a mistake a game in him. He was playing Almiron on side for that Newcastle chance on Saturday

Must admit I was a bit concerned initially, especially with his defending, but imo he has improved in all areas nearly every game, it would be good for his confidence if he could knock a goal in or a couple more assists.

yeah, he's still having those moments but definitely improving. Aerially he's got slightly better too, although it will never be a strength of his

He’s definitely improved. Getting Traore out his way should certainly help from an attacking standpoint as well.

He likes to dive in quite a bit, which when it comes off is good as you win the ball, but when you don’t you get skipped round and you’re out the game.

He’s one of those players though that will always have lapses in concentration, not sure that will ever change. He’s very similar to Kyle Walker in the aggression and mistakes but is probably worse physically but better technically.

I actually think he will make a better RB than RWB, his end product seems to be lacking. I like him though.

And a ridiculously stupid free kick given away in the second half at a time when Newcastle's only threat was crosses.

There's no doubt he is getting better though, as said he is benefitting from playing with Neto rather than Adama.
He just need to cut out the 1 or 2 mistakes he makes per game and he will be excellent.

Semedo was lucky not to give a penalty away when he hung a leg out as ASM tried to get past him in the build up to their goal.

He's fine.

Certainly not lived up to the big billing we pretty much all gave him at the start of this thread, as yet. There are some decent signs though, hope to see better from him next season.

He has improved in the last couple of games - helped by Traore being shifted to the other side so that they aren't trying to occupy the same sq yard of turf.

Worth what we paid - not yet, but getting better.
