I dug out my CD of Ozzy's No More Tears album for the car today. It must be at least a decade since I last heard it. Still absolutely class.

Having a bit of a Lemonheads afternoon. Not quite sure why they seem to have been forgotten in the history of '90s music. There are some truly great songs in their back catalogue.

Started with the Favourite Spanish Dishes EP which is when I first got into them. Then Lovey, Come on Feel and now Car Button Cloth. Skipped over It's a Shame as its too familiar.

In terms of melodic bitter-sweet rock, I'm not sure there's anyone better. A fair few dodgy songs in amongst, but so much good stuff.

i had the earlier stuff - hate your friends, creator and the brilliant Lick. i've got Lovey too and Ray, but may have stopped at that point, at least in terms of vinyl. the earlier stuff was a bit more collaborative in terms of writing i think. some of my favourites were by ben deily who wrote Postcard off creator and Ever from Lick. Lick is a great album if you've not listened to it.

The World Won't End is the album we always have to play on holiday as a family tradition. It's got some great songs on it. Really bitter lyrics wrapped up in sunshiney melodies. I went to see them the night after 9/11 and it was a really weird atmosphere, their minds clearly elsewhere.

that's the one I have. i'll have a listen when I get a chance, assuming I remember. probably not heard it since the year it was released.

Spotify just recommended a cover of Velvet Underground's Waiting For The Man performed by David Bowie in the 1970's.

Fucking awesome - knocks the socks of the original, which I loved anyway.

Listening to the soundtrack to Baby Driver - some great stuff on there. I do like a good soundtrack.

Somewhere In Time by Iron Maiden.

Criminal that this album tends to get lost when talking about their 80s output. I'd take it over Piece of Mind and Seventh Son, personally (I know that's controversial tho).

It is. Piece of mind, seventh son, powerslave and beast are all better (imo) than somewhere in time. 80's maiden definitely trumps their other output for me though.
