Where we will Wolves finish

Even if we lose on Sunday it will have been a good season, however if we win and miss the CL by a point then that's an opportunity missed. Not blown or choked, but definitely a what if. To give context 63 would be the lowest 4th place finish for 16 years

Aye, nobody expects to be in the CL on 63 points, and anything over 60 points for us represents a good season. But I don't get how anybody can't be gutted at not squeezing into the Champions League by a point or two, knowing how many we've dropped to shit teams, or in the last seconds of games. It's not down to being overly expectant, more that the way the season's gone, we could have actually snuck in, and it's a massive shame that we haven't.

You don't get to choose when you finish in the CL spots, and you're frankly never ready for it - as you can't be until you're in it, and thus able to attract the players that demand it

Yeah I agree, it will feel like a missed opportunity more than anything else, especially as when we've had results go against us its been by the rub of the green rather than deserved losses/draws. I really do feel like we are a couple of players away from breaking into the top teams.

This is of course crazy talk as I have predominately known us as a second tier club throughout my supporting days, and with the gulf in clubs that evolved in my time I really thought our opportunities to be anything like the club we are now had passed. These really are the days and I'm not 100% sure its my football club at times.

Can't think of one team that's properly broken the big 5-6 in a matter of a couple of years.

If we do it great! But if people are really upset now then sorry but they're deluded idiots and I dread to think what utter nonsense they'll be spouting if it takes us 5 years or so of being a settled top half/Europa qualifying type team...something I'd still consider as success and surely would still be within the longer term 'plan'.

Leicester broke the big 5-6 pretty spectacularly in 2015/16

By 'broke' I meant consistently really, one season (all be it a great achievement) was hardly breaking it.

Leicester are a good example of a team that may well be pushing on to break it though. They're going to finish 4th-5th this season couple that with the season they won it and you could argue they are the closest team to 'break' that big 6 but they've had a couple of 9th placed and even a 12th placed season amongst that.

That's where I see us being for the next few years (which will be fantastic) in and around the Europa places maybe the odd good cup/europa runs or even freak season even higher (although I can't see another 2016/16 happening soon).

I just hope that we do it with one manager and a bit smoother than them, don't want our fans throwing their toys out and derailing the project if we're not getting champions league within 2 years. Jut because the 'championship' to 'top half/in and around the Europa' part went quicker than planned/expected doesn't mean the next part will its a lot tougher.

So I'm a deluded idiot for being upset that we are literally 1 win away from CL? OK

So you're really upset as to how this season's gone?

I'm not talking a knee jerk reaction after being pretty close, I'm talking properly reflecting on the season and what we've achieved and then being upset?

If so then yeah you're a deluded idiot.

I think we've had a great season, I'm also proper gutted that we couldn't get 1 more win. I'd say most people will be thinking like that so I'm not sure who the deluded idiots will be. Just seemed aggressive, as usual.

Yeah can you stop with the insults, please? Not necessary.

To me its pointless mulling over what could have been. Generally most points where we could say "if only" they will be a moment we forget about. Like Norwich away, somehow we came in at HT 1-0 down and it really should have been 4-0. They were all over us and if they did their job, we would have lost 3 points there.

I will say though, if we don't get Europe this year after a fairly brilliant 2nd season at this level, then you have to have a level of disapointment for a while. Not a "if only" but just because playing in the Europa has been amazing, the away days etc. I'm not fussed what it will do our ability to get players in because I trust Fosun and Uncle Jorge to keep us on track but just more from a personal level.

Exactly for every what if one way there's a what if the other way round.

I've seen a few negative idiots state what if we won a few more of those draw games......yeah well what if we lost some of them!

We'll be in Europe pal don't worry

You're proper gutted that we've missed out on a champions league spot despite only being promoted last season, despite a constant improvement over the past 3 seasons, despite still being in the Europa league at the knock out stage, despite still being qyite likely to qualify for the Europa again.

Getting relegated to league 1 with not so much as a whimper was 'proper gutting'.
Being cheated out of the play off's by Bolton and that prick McGinlay was 'proper gutting'
Coming up short against Palace in play offs despite Sir Jack throwing all he could at it & realising Steve Bull would never play in the Premier League was 'proper gutting'
Getting humiliated 5-1 by the shit down the road was 'proper gutting'

Nothing that's happened this season or that will happen is 'proper gutting'

Nothing can ever be gutting again because of the 80's tbf. And nothing can be great because of the 50's.

As always there are points gained which are lucky and those lost which are unlucky, I don't look back thinking if only we'd beat x,y or z or VAR decisions at other points in the season, but if we were to win on Sunday it's pretty easy to look at a controversial penalty given in the 6th minute of injury time in the 3rd from last game and be disappointed that it cost us a CL place.

He's right though, it isn't "proper gutting". Dramarama with some of our fans.

Nothing can ever be gutting again because of the 80's tbf. And nothing can be great because of the 50's.

Although none of those examples are from the 80s and I'm saying its great now, but other than that yeah point well made

Saddest words in the English language are what could have been, and all that.

There's zero chance that I'm going to be upset about how this season has gone, but part of me will always wonder (unless, of course, we still get into the CL through the Europa).
