Winter Olympics

She will be back I am sure. Looks like she has the speed to be challenging for a while.

It is a mad sport - Australia won their first ever Olympic Gold at it when Steven Bradbury went round about a second behind everyone else in the final and all the other competitors took each other out on the last corner. I have his autobiography, called Last Man Standing, and it is a great read.

Ah, I read about him the other day. I think he said he felt a bit of a fraud cos he clearly wasn't as good as the other guys.

He was pretty good - probably about eighth best in the world. Very lucky to make the final and knew he couldn't compete. Skated round a way behind hoping one would bin it so he could get a bronze and then utter carnage ensued.

So you get binned for being taken out by another faller, but the judges do nothing about an attempted grab on the suit of the person in front of you in the lunge for the line? Staggering.

To say the British skating team are less than pleased is an understatement.

Just showed a replay of the Stephen Bradbury final. Mental.

I also noticed that attempted grab in Elise Christie's race and thought it odd that it didn't even get a mention.

The really blatant grab was in the final as well. I had forgotten that Bradbury was also ridiculously lucky in the semi!!

Just showing the biathlon relay. Obviously only a few minutes, but I watched quite a bit of it earlier. Biathlon is a bloody good sport, which is something I have discovered in these games. I think you can see quite a bit of it on Eurosport so I may look out for it next winter.

Oh yeah it was the final I meant for the grab.

He makes a lot of money down under now as a motivational speaker I think. My brother has met him a few times.

I am so glad I am not alone on that. It was fucking blatant. So if you try and cheat and fuck it up you get a medal, but then other competitors are disqualified for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? I really wish I could understand the judging but I am afraid I don't.

It was so obvious as well. Clearly tried to pull her back in the sprint for the line.

As for the double penalty well I disagree that Christie was ahead. They were alongside each other. So I can only assume they were both punished for that reason. Still harsh as she did nothing wrong really.

Hopefully it will make her determined to come back and smash everyone up in four years time.

Our ladies took gold, silver and bronze in the 30K mass start. We now have 11 gold,4 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Later today it's the men's biathlon relay, hoping we get another medal there.

We have a tiny medal hope in the slalom,Henrik Kristoffersen who won a World Cup race just before the Olympics. Also nice to see Neureuther is fit to start after the car accident.

Finland won bronze in icehockey. Thats great for such small nation.

Didn't seem that small when I was studying there a few years ago. Has it shrunk recently? :p

Finland are pretty big in ice hockey terms tho,but it's still excellent.I wonder how Sweden fared against Canada in the final, with 3 of the 4 referees being Canadian!
