Wolves 0-0 Chelsea: Verdict Thread

I agree it’s not a thrilling watch, but being 8th rather than 13th makes it more bearable IMO.

If you’re playing shit football and struggling/underachieving in the league its unbearable, as what’s the bloody point.

I accept the 17th position is abit hyperbole, was just being an arse and latching onto your comment to be fair.

The point about if we’d lost the next few Lage could’ve been gone is a good point. He probably thought ‘shit, I need to get points on the board here’ and hence the more pragmatic approach

Being pragmatic got the previous manager the boot, even though he had overseen the most successful period in my lifetime.

I was really excited when we appointed him, having seen his Benfica side I thought he'd really entertain us.

Our squad, although thin has enough quality to finish inside the top half without playing such a negative style.

Playing pragmatic didn’t get nuno the sack. Playing that way, coupled with where we finished got him the sack. If we’d finished 8-10 I doubt he would’ve gone

Given the amount of smoke from that particular fire, I got the impression that it was more than just results.

To clarify I don’t think it was handball by the letter of the law with either Kante or Moutinho for the pen. What boiled my piss was that 25000 people and 6 wolves players spotted it was handball and on first look it is handball, you can only give some doubt with a slow motion replay. The same can be said for both incidents. Moss guessed and got it wrong but I blame Marriner for not overturning more. Cootejust bottled it . He gives it against Kante and var then check it. Then it’s also overturned. Shocking lack of consistency
I can see at normal speed why Moss gave a penalty. I can’t see how Coote or his officials don’t stop play for Kantes. It goes back to the nonsense that these things even out. It is abundantly clear they don’t especially if you’re not a sky sixer

Potentially, but as mentioned it’s easier to turn a blind eye to things if the team is achieving/overachieving.

Think we’ve digressed from the verdict of the chelsea game a fair bit, well I definitely have!

Hoever, I thought, played well. I think he's a better all round option to Semedo, who I'm still not convinced about.
I mean, i agree he played alright, defensively was decent (he gave the ball away a few times needlessly though). But I think Semedo has been excellent this season, no way i'd pick Hoever over Semedo.

I don't really rate Hoever currently. I don't actually know what he does well really.

As an athlete he's clearly very good and there's certainly technical ability there. I think currently he's a year behind RAN in development but given time and appearances at RWB or RB if we switch to a 4 I think he could be very good.

His concentration and decision making need work, having said that I wonder if Klopp would've played him instead of Williams last year. My gut feeling is that Liverpool wouldn't have let him go if they thought he was going to be any good.

We dropped a bollock not insisting on Jones instead of Hoever.

I think he'd be better at right back aswell but I think that about all of our options on both the right and left.

We had as much chance of getting Henderson as we did Jones.

Don't forget this was two years ago when Jones had played a whole 122 minutes of PL football.

So your analogy is a bit daft really.
Not really given Jones has been really highly rated for a long time by Liverpool. The reasons he wouldn't have come are the same as they would have been for Henderson - Liverpool wouldn't let him go and Jones wouldn't have wanted to come, so not silly at all.

Comparing Jones at that time to Henderson is ridiculous. KJH was also very highly rated too.

But you keep dieing on that hill.

No dying on a hill here. I was comparing them wrt likelihood of joining us and it's a good comparison because the chances of either was zero.
