Wolves 0-0 Fulham: Verdict Thread

I think Lage won't be sacked unless we look in real danger when we either go to or come back from the World Cup.

He's the perfect Fosun manager. Doesn't rock the boat and is pretty dispensable.

I'll be interested to see if we stick with a back 4 next weekend. You'd think he's nailed his colours to the mast with that one now Coady has gone but he has talked about switching between both systems.
I've no issue at all with Kilman playing where Coady used to and Boly and Collins either side. So long as the rest of the team looks right.

I'm hoping Conte does his usual trick of Lee Nayloring Emerson Royal whenever they don't win and plays Doherty. He was rotten when we beat them in February, even for him.

But we will be in danger very soon unless there's a serious upturn. We have won 0 in 9, 3 in 16. It's genuinely some of the worst form we've had in 35 years. We haven't been very good in the first two games against teams that are unlikely to finish much higher than 14th. Turns out that beating Alaves in a friendly actually means fuck all.

He's on a much shorter rope than you think, because last season hasn't been erased, and a lot of the same faults are still there, right down to him claiming we were brilliant when we absolutely weren't.

I just don't think they'll act quickly at all. They'll wait until a larger portion of the season is gone and judge then.

I don't think we'll be in the relegation zone all season like you do though.

Shi doesn't know enough about football to see signs of future concern. For that reason I don't think Bruno will be be here for a good while yet

They can read a league table.

Current form continuing has us landing on 3 wins from 18 (so half a season more or less, I think past the World Cup and into January without looking). Or 0 wins from 11.

Now that could improve.

But at my most optimistic I have Spurs, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Southampton - based on how we look - as five points. So 6 from 6 if you're being kind. Then we have Liverpool, Man City, West Ham, Chelsea. We're going be in or near trouble, like it or not, unless he produces a dramatic change like, now. And I don't think he will because he's not very good and if we're to take what he says at face value, he's still delusional and out of his depth.

He won't be here for very much longer IMO. We should have pulled the plug, we didn't, not much has changed and so he'll have to go.

By no means all his fault. But plenty is, and it's an atrocious run. As I say, 35 years. Plenty of shit players, shit teams, shit managers at different levels. Find me five worse runs than 12 points from 16 games (can't remember our goals scored return but it'll be rubbish). You'll be looking hard. It's historically dreadful.

If Bruno does go, who’s next on the Mendes merry go round to come here or would we have a proper search?
That’s probably a thread starter isn’t it?

Fonseca or Conceicao based on the links post-Nuno.

I think you may be in for a nasty surprise, we’ve basically continued where we finished last season. Next games spurs, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Saints, Liverpool, City, West Ham, Chelsea.
At best we’ll be on 12 points after that and that would involve a large turnaround in form from a lot of players.
Reality is we’ll probably be on about 7-8 and in the bottom 3.
We just aren’t very good we’ve got a few very good players but in forward areas we have an abundance of average, pretty much explains the lack of goals.

He doesn't have many managers on his books. Fonseca has just taken over at Lille. Most of the others simply wouldn't happen.

We'd go elsewhere this time.

Lage was a dead man walking on the day he was appointed.
Every manager is, by default. They all go eventually.

Ultimately he should never have been near a job like this. He isn't Saunders or Zenga levels of dreadful of course, but tactically he's so limited and there aren't many/any green shoots. Quite simply, we can do miles better. At least we can right now, less so if we carry on being shit for three months.

A board with any competence or people who knew what they were watching could easily see that things were going south rapidly in the last 8-9 games. The complete rabble we became in matches against BHA and City especially was an indictment of where we were at.
Complete utter no shows at Burnley and Newcastle.
Most would have said it’s not working sorry, but foolishly they’ve looked at the table and thought good effort let’s see how it goes.

Throughout pre season everyone here was looking for a centre back , a central midfielder and a couple of lads up front , and any others that might come in were also being suggested for those areas .
No one mentioned our full backs - we start the season with both of them looking quite average and struggling . Semedo will return and Jonny might end up switching over .
Probably a result of two full backs being used to playing wing back with some sort of cover behind them , now they are not sure are all . He who hesitates is lost comes to mind .

RAN, Jonny and Semedo were exclusively full backs before they came to Wolves. I agree the former 2 haven't played well, but I don't think it's inexperience of the position. If you look at RAN's 2 major mistakes, they aren’t because he was at left back rather than LWB, they were just over confidence/stupidity. With Jonny it's something else.

Semedo will come back in to RB v Spurs, IMO. Then RAN/Jonny can scrap for the other side.

Hope there's nothing wrong with Jonny mentally, I'm holding onto the hope its just a blip in form.
He's my favourite player of the Nuno era and always seemed level headed as well as a terrific fb/wb. I'll be distraught if he leaves or just fades away at a player (hyperbole alert)

Can't see it, no pre season and broke down when he came back too early last time. 60 mins against Preston would be my bet
