Wolves 0-1 Arsenal: Verdict Thread

Still think Lackathreat fouled Sa for their goal. But another set of shithousing wankers (dirty shithousing wankers this time) win the day, and we were never going to score with them camping nine men in the last twenty yards. We’d have had a better chance if they’d stayed with eleven.
With Donk in a midfield two we’re never going to create anywhere near enough (although he did get in some good positions) and Neves ended up far too deep again.

Tbf I don’t think Donck really hindered us too much attacking wise (although how bad was that cross he did). We just routinely make such bad decisions when we get into the final third. It’a bizarre, like no matter who it is does something dumb

Look at how quickly we fall apart last season without him.
The thing is, that's not mutually exclusive with Raul also being on the decline.

Just because we don't have anyone else in the squad capable of playing the role he does, doesn't mean he hasn't also gradually become worse at that role.

Raul jumps for the header. Whether he connects or not he’s come across the eyeline and interferes with play
I understand what you're saying, but I'm sure the laws have changed. Look at mistake Lovren made because of the presence of an offside player against Spurs. Also Villa v Man City last season, the goal stood despite it being an offside player that forces a mistake.

There are other examples.

Logic says it should be disallowed, but I don't think the laws of the game say it should.

It's still a mystery to me that the powers that be, see fit to let Jordao and MGW go out on loan but keep Dendonker! It's not all on him, this defeat, but he does sweet FA! The performance is general had a lot of heart, as expected, but when it mattered, lacked quality in the final third, as we've sadly become accustomed too. Trincao the worst offender first half, take you pick second half. Pockets of sunshine from Podence but even he was frustrating. Raul is way, way off his game. Probably time to try Hwang again. Oh well, we lost to Arsenal tonight. You watch we'll go beat their rivals on Sunday!
I don’t really think dendoncker was an issue tonight at all to be fair.

Appreciate the staunch defence of Raul from some, but put simply, he is a Premier League centre forward who just doesn’t look like scoring. He’s almost trying too hard and putting too much pressure on himself - so many times this evening he tried to go it alone and lost the ball. Then there’s the headers which he used to win for fun, but just looks hopeless with them now (probably understandably, given what he’s been through). The club have done him no favours at all in not signing anyone to help with the workload (he’ll basically start every game where he’s fit as Fabio is still way off starting a game).

Ignoring everything else, Raul’s performance/form is the biggest worry I’ve taken away from tonight.

I think that could have just as much to do with the manner of his exit as anything.

The whole club seemed in a weird trance last season. Fabio was never ready and Willian was... I don't know. That still feels like it should have worked.

But I never saw a drastic drop off in our overall play pre/post injury. I didn't see us as largely threatening before (although there was more hope of Raul doing something fucking awesome), and didn't after. Raul would have his moments but even then they weren't reliable and he just doesn't help us create chances from open play, generally. If he does, it's for himself (since Jota left).

I think there are a lot of reasons for this that go beyond "Raul's a bit shit now ay", and I admit I let my emotions get the better of me earlier.

Anywho. I don't like disagreeing with you, Louie. Makes me uncomfortable. Handshake?

If the law has changed you may be correct. But I’m not aware it has? I just took it as he interfered with play making a challenge for the ball

Total garbage. The decision to let Traore go out on loan is paying off big time. Need Neto & soon.
Traore was not the answer tonight, we essentially brought him on with Chiqi, anyway, who did basically the same thing as Adama but with double the workrate.

What I would really like is a forward who actually makes CBs work. You put hands on Raul and you win the ball, period.

Actually quite peeved so off to have a smoke and. I dunno. Not do soccer.
You are talking rubbish. How on earth can you compare Chiqi with Traore.

But he hadn’t. Not from “winter 19/20” anyway. I don’t understand why we are trying to rewrite history

How on earth do you get to be a moderator with your sweary comments? :ROFLMAO:

I don’t think anyone is necessarily defending his current form tbh. I don’t think it’s all down to him mind, he plays in a team that lacks creativity so badly. Some bits may be down to him but majority of it is not

Like this:

Name that winger - subbed on in the 2nd half, has a good impact on the game, puts in some decent crosses, but ultimately creates nothing as Wolves go on to lose. Who am I?

He's the best right foot we've had in ages.

Was Helder Costa left or right footed?

Taking it back to the game.

Thought we played fairly well, but we don’t create clear cut chances, that’s the issue. They scored a soft goal from a set piece, and lacazette should score that one on one, but other than that they were fairly well contained.

The issue is our lack of goals and creativity. We’ve had all our creative/attacking players fit this season (Neto aside) and we have never really created many clear cut chances from any combination of players (minus maybe the first 3 games)

As said, we could’ve been there all night tonight and we still wouldn’t have scored.

Shit goal to concede. 5ft 10 Ben White should not be having a free header like that to put it across goal. No foul for me on Sa.

As much as I feel Raul is struggling this season, we hardly play a style that helps our striker.

I’m happy with lage and how the season is going as a whole. I didn’t expect us to be where we are knowing very little of Lage and our recent recruitment. However, you take it back to getting rid of Doherty (il duck in cover) and jota, losing Raul to the nasty injury, we have lost so many goals from our team and just not replaced them.
