Wolves 0-1 Liverpool: Verdict Thread

It isn't great from him. Watch it back.

All over the shop. Stand still man.

(Plus he nearly cost us a goal earlier. I could equally say that he gets weird adulation when he isn't very good)

As I say, it's Hoever's fault in the main. That is not good goalkeeping though.

I think you have to give Coady a bit of leeway as was struggling with his ankle injury.

Coady doesn't defend it well too either is my issue, as pointed out by Mark at the time. Origi should never be able to turn that easily

I can forgive Hoever being beaten by Salah, he doesn't dive in or anything it's just a great first touch and with his pace you've not got much chance after that.

Coady has a much more manageable proposition in Origi though and he's all at sea.

I have to agree with Dan here it was Bambi on ice shit from Sa. However if Hoever hadnt had powderpuffed a pass to Raul the Liverpool winner would never had happened.

I think that’s a really harsh assessment. I’m now watching it back and wondering why Saiss is so far away from Hoever too.
If Sa makes a mistake there it’s his initial step to the right there rather than going to ground.

Think Hoever’s start position is the issue (although he is probably still recovering). Gets caught in line with Salah and is punished for it by a great first touch.

It’s a free shot from 6 yards out. They go in every single time once it’s beat the defender, unless it just hits the keepers foot. He’s tried to pre empt the shot/pass, no different to when a keeper guesses on a 1v1, and we don’t blame them then. I honestly don’t think if he doesn’t take that step it would make a difference. It MAY have hit his foot but I doubt. Just as likely go through his legs.

At the end of the day if Hoever passes to Raul then it doesn’t happen. He’s then too casual with the ball over the top, I presume showing him down the line, but it’s too much and is an open invitation and he takes it.

Almost as if it’s a team game and we concede and score as a team rather than individuals.

I don’t particularly love the whole “put up a pic/vid of a player so we can slate them” thing. I get that it’s kind of just part of the discourse but it feels very… Harsh.

His positioning in general is very poor. He's a good athlete and technically he's probably only just behind RAN but he lacks awareness of the game he's playing which really isn't good.

I'm not sure whether it's because he's young out he's just not mentally there.

Shane we got him instead of Jones, Elliott or Williams. I'm surprised we didn't go for Jones in particular.

Would they have sold us those players though? Liverpool have a great record in recent years of knowing when to sell a player who isn't quite up to scratch. Can't say I am too keen on Williams anyway who they chose to keep over Hoever.

They signed Elliott in the same Summer, so he wouldn't have been a runner

Yeah no chance we were getting Curtis Jones, he's class.

Williams I don't really rate either.

Not sure but they wanted Jota so we were in a good position to start with.
