Wolves 0-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

The next frame(s) are not above.
I’ve screenshotted them from a video I’ve watched probably 50 times (how sad).

He kicks the ball to the side, plants his right foot, gets airborne (he cannot change direction in the air) and his natural forward momentum and Sa’s motion see them collide.

I mean he could have taken a massive lunge to his left after he plants his right leg to avoid contact, but why would he do that. If he’d have done that, and had any intention of getting the ball, he’d have probably fell over. He’s kicked the ball away and knows physics mean there is going to be a collision if the keeper makes a play. The keeper made a play.

It’s not rocket science, it’s basic physics.

But that’s me done. I can take the horse to water, after that it’s up to you

Me too. I agree to disagree. It's all down to interpretation. My background as a former national referee and assessor is influencing my judgment.

My thought is Dele bought the penalty with a sneaky move, but once Attwell gave it there was no way VAR were overturning the decision because of the clear and obvious protocol.

I have no problem with it, frustrating as it was.

In the ground looking from the North Bank my only thought was hoping an offside flag might save us. It just looked a penalty all day.

Not seen either penalty other than live. Theirs looked nailed on from the NB Upper, Semedo plainly looked for the man with no interest in the ball, it was pretty transparent

No matter what angle I watch, I just see Sa clattering into him. Yeah he dangled a leg out, but even if he didn't have a leg there he'd still have been taken out.

He’s played for the penalty. But it’s a blatant penalty. Not sure how there’s any debate. That happens to our player abs it’s not given we’re up in arms

Absolutely. I’m annoyed with him for it but applaud his cunning.
It’s frustrating as it is exactly the type of penalty VAR said would NOT be given this season yet here we are. I have no complaints if both Alli and Semedo don’t get penalties for the challenges. Both looked soft . To lose to it given that it’s cheating and it was supposed to be changing is galling

Then you need to moan at the on field referee for falling for the con. Extremely unlikely that VAR was going to overturn as there was contact. Despite the fact it should do. That’s where the clear and obvious bar becomes an issue.

Thanks guys, too kind!

Don’t know the best thread to post these in, so will just stick them in here as these stats are from this particular game.

Think a few of these make interesting reading and shine a positive light on the football Lage has us playing. We just need those goals to come and I reckon we’ll do alright.
