Wolves 0-1 Villa: Verdict Thread

Every Leeds fan I know thinks we fluked a win. xG for the game was 1.29 - 0.48
Yeah, but Leeds fans think they're the greatest team in t'world.

I thought we were pretty comfortable and more than deserved it. I've seen us jam plenty of fluke wins over the years (used to be a speciality under McGhee then he'd come out and brag about how well we'd done), that wasn't one in my book.

Obviously I don't believe in luck......however, don't think we've had much this season, but its ok, I ditched my old lucky Wolves hat yesterday and started wearing the one I got with my membership. Obviously I look a complete twat with it on due the silly pattern and its got a big fuck off pom-pom but sometimes you have to go the extra mile for your team.

Haha, the 38 quid is another reason to get some wear out of it. Pom pom might have to go, its irritating me keep bobbing about on me yead...don't think its suitable for a grumpy 62 year old

Was out all day & couldn't be arsed to watch MoTD - reading this thread shows me why I should avoid it after we lose.

From the highlights I have managed to see then we weren't that bad & on another day would have won. Silva is being asked to do something that he is very inexperienced to do & but for an inch or two would have scored his first PL goal for us - we go ahead & think that we would have won (Dendoncker is more experienced and should have made at least one of his chances count).

No idea what Moutinho did to annoy Dean - the second yellow was really a nothing challenge and not deserving of anything

Seeing lots of people saying 'if only we'd scored' and the like...I'm not sure how helpful that is? Football is about absolutes sometimes, both sides in any game can come up with that kind of line.

If we'd had better goal difference last year we'd probably be in Europe now!

We were three behind Spurs (a way behind on goals scored). Jota fell over on a one vs one against Everton and Adama hit the bar from three yards in front of an open goal in the same game, so we only need to find two more....

I was talking to my dad at the weekend and commented how I haven't watched a single MOTD this season.
Truth be told, I'm kinda losing interest in football in general....

VAR, and these new rules around handballs and contact in the area have really killed off my enjoyment of the game, as there are so many ridiculous penalty decisions being awarded and forensic analyses of any minute bit of contact. Officials spending ages drawing tiny lines to determine why a good goal should be ruled out etc etc...
Coupled with the lack of proper crowds and atmosphere, I find myself not arsed anymore and that makes me really sad considering where we are and the progress we have made in the last 3 seasons.
I watched Liverpool vs Fulham last night and Fulham had a good penalty shout ruled out and of course Liverpool get their decision from a FK blasted at a hand that couldnt get out of the way at that speed and the whole thing just seems inevitable that these decisions and rules are designed to favour the big boys in the long run.

I find myself being less bothered not just about football in general, but also about Wolves and that's a shit feeling, and VAR and the new rules are the main reason. We had so many shit decisions go against us last season due to these poxy rules and I feel like a reckoning is coming soon where people will just stop watching as VAR has completely ruined the game, and the officials are all conditioned to protect each other no matter how bad a decision is. Every week there are now multiple incidents involving poor decisions and teams like Villa are now evolving to cheating as they know how easy it is to get a decision in your favour.

Talking about VAR again this morning with some mates. We all agree that its ruining the game. Let the ref referee as in the past but if he misses something significant or there's a blatant error, then let VAR correct. The idea surely is for something clear and obvious and not to dissect a replay frame by frame to 'find' something.

Give each team one VAR appeal each half and they keep it if they’re correct. That way frivolous appeals will cease.

Same. Sums it up very well.

Don't think that it's just football - we have all changed (& had to this year) & people have lost interest in what they used to do & found something else to fill the time

i'm still very keen on all the things I was before covid, just fed up of not being able to do them properly

Agree that I am frustrated with not being able to do what I would normally would.

Help to run a lawn bowling club & whilst we are solvent as we own the site & are liable for Business Rates could access various grants via Gov't schemes & Bowls England the big worry is the membership levels next near - couldn't recruit this year and we always lose 10% of the members each year either due to death (it is a sport that attracts the older participant), infirmity or those who move away to live nearer family.

Have spoken to many members this year - some have intimated that they have not missed it enough & may not return. We will have a difficult period to rebuild.

I really hate tp say this but I'm just as passionate about Wolves as I've ever been. I sit there, yelling at the TV, the family have a sweepstake on how long into a game I can go before I yell, "Skin 'im, Adama!" I yell for red cards, I yell for penalties and I do all that with no alcohol intake.

It’s just not the same, imagine the atmosphere if we had been there on Saturday. Would absolutely not have been the same result.

When the game first came back after lockdown I was screaming at the telly. Now I find myself sitting watching in basic silence.

Normally I wouldn't miss a game if I had the opportunity to watch it - tomorrow I'll probably go to rugby training instead as I can't be bothered.

I'll be watching, I'll be excited and nervous. At the end of the game I'll be elated ...or seething.
Of course its not the same but its better than not having it for me.....we've got precious little else to look forward to in the short term.
