Wolves 0-2 Brentford: Verdict Thread

Would have to disagree that we are no longer playing good.
We created some good chances but our decision making in around the box let us down. Traore could have put it on a plate for Jiminez and Trincao on a load of occasions but kept whipping it over everyone in the box.
Podence and Hwang both created chances and then cut it back into the defenders shins.
We just didnt look sharp in this box - we created more than enough chances to win it so I wouldnt say that we are no longer playing Brunos way. Just poor decision making today
For me the attractive football was enough for a little bit, but at this point it isn't. We have to make it pay and we're not only not making it pay, we're barely even scribbling our name on the check before we try to cash it.

I'll probably feel a little better later today but right now it's extremely difficult for me to feel comfortable saying I think we'll improve; I just don't see where the improvement is going to come from right now.

I've seen Adama put in 3 fantastic crosses in that second half, but our forwards either lack the finishing ability (Raul) or the positional intelligence to knock them in.
Nah, there was the one that Jiminez got on the end of and put wide and that was it.
The others were either behind the oncoming attackers or hit with too power and went over everyone

At least he fucking got a cross in the box. The rest of the fucking wankers didn’t even bother with that. If I have to watch Marçal pass it back or to Traore with 10 players around him one more time I’ll combust. Fucking shit player.

Chasing a two goal lead, and you're worried he didn't pick Dendoncker ?
Nah, that’s not quite the issue I was (admittedly poorly worded) concerned about.

We had a clear issue in the centre at the end of the first half that required an attacking, central player given the score line (we don’t have one, my OPINION is that getting donk in to help Nev/Mout in the middle results in a net gain for our attacking play as it may have helped them to dictate the tempo better).

Bruno felt the answer was Hwang at CAM but that clearly didn’t work for varying reasons. Therefore my concern was, how do we approach games where our middle is losing the battle AND we are losing games? Donk is the only genuine CM option we have and if he’s not preferred/favoured/appropriate (take your pick, appreciate you might not agree with my opinion above) then how do we handle that for the next 5 months?

2 goals from 5 games. One an own goal, and the other a one yard scramble. Worrying to say the least.

1 in 4 on target. Today was our worst performance for both, against the 'theoretically' easiest team we've played so far.

Definitely an argument to rotate the front 3 until we find a combination that gets results.

I'm more concerned about the defence tbh. I'm not convinced by Marcal or Kilman, never have been, and if we pick up any injuries or suspensions in those positions, which we will, we will give away even more goals like today.

Are we this years Sheff Utd in the sense we just don't really look like scoring? People were positive still after the first couple of defeats because they seemed to be enjoying the style, but it seems like regardless of the opposition the same patterns are happening. Were a tad fortunate last week that Watford missed some decent changes themselves. It's very early but I don't like what I am seeing at all currently, we have looked one of the weaker sides so far in the early stages of the season, when you look at the overall picture. Regardless of the initially tough start.

Manager has been hung out to dry. At our best we're attractive but wasteful. At our worst we're impossibly generous but toothless
It was the lack of intelligence from the team all over the pitch. Poor decision making , poor challenges , poor crossing and poor finishing. We keep saying it’s all going to click but I hope it goes soon or the Molineux will be toxic

Completely inept in both boxes today, people moaning about Brentford tactics they didn’t get away with it finished with 10 men and had 6 minutes injury time.
Sides that moan about shithousery are usually soft touches themselves.
Raul looks a shell of his old self currently some individuals were shocking today.
To early to assess Bruno so far but so far points wise not good enough.
3 from 5 games two of those v promoted sides and one with an average Spurs team.
No goals in 4 games none at home and 3 straight homes defeats.
Also why I don’t feel to happy about good performances that yield zero points. Today was neither pretty or points yielding.

If I was giving marks out of 10 for the players today, none would get more than a 6, because even the ones who did ok did plenty wrong as well.

As for Marcal he’d get a 1, and that’s for putting his boots on the correct feet. Presuming he managed to get that right…

Kilman's been the best defender so far this season, even with his rick for the second goal he didn't play badly overall. His willingness to get on the ball, particularly in advanced areas, is a big plus at the moment.

🤣 Did he though?

Getting a manager in who wants to play on the front foot and then leaving him with only two players who can actually put the ball in the net (one of which is long term injured, the other coming back from a long term injury) was always going to come with teething troubles. Especially when you don't then back him in the window.

The only goal we've scored ourselves in five games is a tap in from Hwang, and I bet if he hadn't been on the pitch none of our other players would have been in the position to take advantage. We'd have scored more with Nunoball.

Still think Bruno can get a tune out of this squad, but it'll take time and some tweaks, and a lot of patience from us

Not that it matters much now, but did Toney get away with a handball in the buildup to their second?

Agreed, Saiss is the one who should drop out for me. He's not good enough overall. Boly is a much better defender.

RAN needs to play as well, particularly against teams we need to be picking points up against.

The inability to score is the most worrying. It has been the same for a long time. Without Raul scoring we look bereft of an idea where the actual net is. Hwang is perhaps the only one you could say was able to, and he has 1 goal.
My concern is that without a real goalscoring addition we'll be playing every game hoping to not concede to gain points.
Obviously it's only 5 games in but it's a worrying trend that has carried over from last season.
Question is can Bruno fix this? The game film should make interesting watching for the players tomorrow.

That is going to be a task...
