Wolves 0-2 Brentford: Verdict Thread

Caught up on MOTD last night. The difference between us and Villa is night and day at the moment, let alone the likes of Leicester, Man Utd etc.

Ings looks twice the player Raul is (currently), they’ve got loads of goals from midfield - their full backs look threatening in the attacking areas and can cross (Matty Cash being one). As DW said earlier in the thread, we’ve allowed them to overtake us.

It doesn’t mean we should be writing games off, it’s just being realistic of where we are, on the pitch (off it we’ve gone miles backwards, sadly) compared to our rivals.

It all boils down to Jeff Shi and the fact he and his team have failed to improve us on the pitch since we were promoted.

Thing is, man for man I'd argue we still have the superior squad... on paper. Clearly it isn't clicking on the pitch for so many reasons.

This season is increasingly feeling like watching Arsenal during Wenger's latter years. Lots of quality in those squads but the balance was never right because they kept buying the same kinds of players over and over again instead of improving the mix.

Whether you think the fault of the results is with players, manager, board etc there’s only going to be one outcome if results dont improve soon.
I’ve said if he’s not at at least a point per game come the November international break it’ll be time up.
I think he needs 4 points from the next 2 to give him some breathing space for the Villa game.
I didn’t walk out of the games v Spurs or Man Utd delighted more frustrated and annoyed at ourselves attacking football is entertaining if it has substance at the end otherwise it’s just annoying to see so many missed chances.

Well, from what i watched, we totally failed to handle TOmey, at all points throughout the game.
We to totally failed to handle the Brentford press, even though we had to be expecting it, and thus lost all ability to knock it around in their box and resorted to the get it out to the wingers, mostly Adama and bang a cross in. Sadly either the crosses were shit or there was frankly no bugger in the middle when they weren't.
Marcal was giving that penalty away before they even placed the ball for the corner, and the ensuing panic after that could have led to us being 4-0 down at half time.
Trincao is shit on the left as he has no left foot, on the right, Adams resorts to the simple skin the full back an wack it over .
Raul is badly out of form and drifting wide far too much.
Trincao and semedo have been linking well, but no one really links with Marcel.
Full on bollocking for the players for me, and I would like to see boly and marques i n a back three with kilman, podence to swop with Adams for at least a full half and hwang on the pitch either with or without raul.
I am not blaming Bruno at all, the players clearly didnt do anything they have trained to do, and the panic after the penalty was just unacceptable.

You'll have a job picking Marques, he's at Belenenses.

You have to blame the manager to an extent. We were awful. It's his team, isn't it.

The same issues that have been slowly getting worse for over 12 months are continuing to get worse. Its a mentality thing IMO, too many players are too comfortable and aren't under any real threat of being dropped as there's no one to come in in reserve.

I don't really know how you can coach your way out of that. The traditional thing has always been to refresh the squad to keep everyone on their toes but we seem to be trying a revolutionary new strategy of not buying first team defenders for over 3 years. Once a culture starts to go in any team in sport or just in a workplace it's one of the hardest things to change.

I agree, competition for places is always a good thing to keep players on their toes

He only has a left foot. His right does nothing but hold his body up.
