Wolves 0-2 Brighton Where's Dave gone? Verdict

No, we didn't complete enough passes.....

The guy who I've been sharing his passmaps from hasn't knocked one up (@11tegen11 on Twitter). If he shares one then I'll post it on here.

When @11tegen11 completely does you and shares a passmap as soon as you say there isn't one...

Cav furthest forward is interesting, as is Coady and Saiss having a similar volume of touches.
DE having minimal touches was a given though...

We can go round n circles on this verdict thread just like about 30 others over the last season. Three quarters of our first team squad are league one standard. No goalkeeper at the club is up to standard.
I would have been pissed off to let the first one in and I am in my 50s. No that's not true. My positioning would have been better so as not to have worried about a 50 year old wrist for Christ sake! Two shots two goals useless

If we don't sign 8 quality replacements we don't stand a prayer. Fosun is worth 56 billion so let's go right to the boundary of ffp and replace the shit.

Brighton showed today why they are where they are, very Hull like under Bruce the first time, efficient and organised, never going to beat themselves but with enough quality to do whats needed when they get the chance.

We at least showed a glimpse that Lambert has an idea of a style (high pressing, fairly quick tempo'd) however the issue is does he see you need quick fullbacks with athleticism for that. Doherty on the left is appalling to watch tactically, never seems to run the line and always slowing play down.

Lonergan was dreadful stick Burgoyne in over that disaster.
The way he was warming up at halftime I thought he might have been coming on.

Something about nail, head and this in spades springs to mind.

We have no keeper/fullback/central midfielser/striker that is fit for a title challenge.

Watching our lot versus a team that will get promoted is so depressing that I really don't want to bother saying anything else this season - massive changes needed or nest season won't be that much better

We may not have lost if Lonergan didn't have catflaps for hands. Or at least stayed in it until the end at least.

Cav looked really good at the start when he was popping up all over the place and coming deep for the ball, then he started moving forward practically playing up front alongside Bodvarsson and faded out of the game.

Looking at things for next season, I would like to see wholesale changes being made. But I've a gut feeling we'll still see the likes of Batth, Doherty, Ikeme and Edwards playing regularly which is depressing thought.

When Costa and Cav play together we are enough of a threats to compensate for our woeful defence and central midfield. When the don't both start we tend to lose. Funny that. Our only premier quality players as a starting pair and we are a threat. We now need to sign a number of similar calibre throughout the squad.

Cav was one of the few stand out performers* given the lack of ability, desire and tactics today.

*No player was above a 6 today

As much the Lonergan has wrists made of poppadoms and feet like Toblerone his biggest weakness is his voice....or utter lack of. Zero control of his defence. Take the chance Coady presented to them right on half time with his dreadful header...all of that could have been avoided if the mute behind him had been shouting the stadium down to tell him that he needed to flick the ball back him.

You're right. I can't put into words how disappointed I am with Lonergans kicking, comms and command skills. They all should be much better for a keeper with his experience and his size. I keep watching the goals. They really are Sunday morning park standard defensively aren't they? Please its not just me? Brighton are decent but if they finish outside the bottom 3 next year they will have done well!

Personally I think they'll be fine next season and IMO are a better side than Newcastle.

Depends who they add - Premier funding will give them options & their Manager isn't that bad

We shoot ourselves in the foot in defence. We can have 40 minutes of looking OK then suddenly any ability to defend vanishes. The 5 minutes before half time today summed that up. Hause lost his head and Lonergan is just Lonergan.

I don't think Harry B is ready yet but I would play him over Lonergan. They both share the same issues but one has a few games and years to learn and the other has "Championship" experience and is past learning from mistakes.

Won't score enough. Same problem as Middlesbrough. Its OK in the championship in fact its a great starting point to be solid defensively. Brighton have also done well in attack. I just don't see Murray Hemed and Knock heart getting more than 15 goals max between them.

They many get some new blood in they have the money. Its more about if a player wants to go there. Say what you like about Bournemouth they look like scoring. They look like conceding too, granted but I would take them to beat Brighton and given Bournemouth will probably finish bottom 6 , to me that says Brighton will do well to stay up next year.

The championship is going to be bloody hard to get out of next year looking at who is still in it, who is likely to come down and who may well come up. Sheffield UTd will be no pushovers, Sunderland and Boro will be intimidating home and away, Villa Derby Norwich, and only one of the 5 below the top two will go up obviously so the remainder will be hard work to beat. There really are 12 or 14 possible challengers for the top 6 places next year. We need to make weholesale changes to ensure we are one of them

All depends on who they add and Houghton is a far better manager to have in your ranks than Karanka who had started to lose the plot at the end of last season.
