Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace: Verdict Thread

But yet still picked him and was able to change things after his injury. Yep Hoever isn’t up to it but the reason we lost wasn’t solely down to Hoever.
He said losing duels was the main reasons. Bruno was angry in the press conference.

Yep if he's so Ill prepared then what's he doing picking him in the first place.

Lage takes the blame for me today, it was the first time in a long while that I've felt like just walking out. It was the wrong starting XI in the wrong formation and once they scored we were never ever getting anything from the game.

You watch other teams and you can feel they're going to score, yet you watch us (and this goes back to when Nuno was in charge too) it seems that no matter how much pressure we may have on the opposition, you never feel a goal will come.
Don't think he had much choice. Jonny is not ready for 90 yet.

I don't think he's saying that. Jonny isnt / wasnt ready for 90 minutes yet either.

But you adapt to that to you don’t pick someone if they’re so ill prepared for the first team.
Hanging out players in the public domain isn’t a great look unless they’re in breach of discipline.
Yep player has responsibilities but so has the manager, he also needs to answer why so many of his players looked half arsed today and showed such poor character.

Totally this! You bollock him in private and leave him out. Don't pick him then bitch when he goes off injured when you knew he wasn't right to play in the first place.

What option did he have? Birtwistle?

Worst 45 minutes I think I’ve seen us play for a very long time. The ‘defending’ was beyond pathetic and we couldn’t even muster an attack at all. Lage takes his fair share of the blame with that lineup but not one player comes out of that with any credit.

I never want to see Hoever, Hwang or Marcal in a Wolves shirt again, why the fuck we’ve committed to signing Hwang is beyond me. Personally can’t wait for the season to end if that’s what we’ve got left to look forward to. Diabolical.

Second time in less than a week I've seen the team sheet and gone straight to Bet365. I think there was some mitigation last week, but today was brainless. I thought Bruno had learnt his lesson that when he plays a 2 against a physical 3, we lose or at best are overrun, it would appear not. As for Podence as a false 9...

Lots of really poor performances, Kilman is mentally shot, the leg dangle for the penalty one of many really strange things he did in the first half. I wonder whether he's affected by the Ukraine situation still having family there. If so he needs taking out, no chance of an International call up now.

Saiss has given 2 goals away in as many games.

Hwang is goal or nothing

Podence can flick off

Neto understandably not there, his legs can't do what his brain is telling them

Nice to see Jonny back, although even with him so uncharacteristic loose balls, although sound defensively.

Moutinho poor since his injury

Too much expected of Neves

The season will now peter out into a mid table finish which is a shame. We had an opportunity to do something special and have blown it - I put that on the 'board', manager and players in that order

Why the special mention for Hwang, if I may?

Podence playing as a central striker summed up a clueless team selection, which combined with an approach of simply going through the motions from most of the team ensured my prediction of 0-2 was only ever likely to be threatened by Palace scoring more. If money is tight buying Hwang makes absolutely no sense, he offers practically nothing. Another defeat on Thursday and people will soon forget the promising start Lage made, some of his recent selections and tactics are strange and he cannot simply blame injuries and not having the players to play the way he wants to.

Your next option is the U23, really don’t understand the view point of he’s terrible but play him anyway attitude.
Birtwistle or Lembikisia who play in u23s but are nowhere near ready for the first XI.

Hoever is a first team player and should be able to do the bare minimum. Lage didn't really have a choice in playing him. If hoever hasn't prepared properly then Lage should be calling him out.

How long has he been unprepared? Doesn’t just happen over night so bringing one of the U23 into the squad is beneficial as back up at first.
You call them out in private not in the public domain it’s a crap deflection tactic.

If Lage wasn't justified in what he said then I reckon he's just, to coin a phrase, lost the dressing room..

The way they played you wonder if something has already happened though.

Body language today was not good I said it earlier I wouldn’t won’t to play in this style of football especially if I was a forward thinking player. Impossible to say though conversley we’ve ground out some good results with good team spirit to this season.

I can't agree that playing birtwistle or Lembikisia would have been the right thing to do. Way too early in their respective developments for PL football.

I don’t agree with throwing a player under the bus but at the same time it could have been the straw that broke the camels back with him.
