Wolves 0-3 Brighton: Verdict Thread

Very odd performance.

Midfield was predictably completely dominated by Brighton. Not seen us retreating so much ground in the centre, even when we play a two, on the scale we have lately. Dendoncker huffed and puffed but always looked on the periphery of the game. The amount of times the ball fell to Bissouma was embarrassing.

Boly back to his old ropey decision making, Coady unable to organize the defense with his own game requiring concentration beyond his ability, Ait-Nouri had one of his worst performances in a Wolves shirt and Never miles off the pace while he was on.

Going forward no better. Hwang has been a terrible signing, and whilst he ran around a lot looking lively, he produced nothing of note. Fabio made some decent runs but he looked incredibly isolated - we just seemingly refused to defend or attack as a team, the least cohesive I've seen us for a long, long time. Jonny and Raul made absolutely no difference, in fact, Jonny seemed to make us worse - his half assed backtracking for the third was worryingly unlike him.

It seems when we don't have Podence, we have zero attacking intent. No ideas. Worrying that I've heard from more than one respected source about problems behind the scenes with Bruno for quite some time now, especially as he seemed to be doing a decent job, but that's player power for you.

I doubt Bruno will be here next season. Whether that's the right decision or not, I have no idea. As long as Side-Eye Sellars is gone, that'll be a start. Then a few defenders who are actually defenders, a few midfielders who can run, strikers who can score and wide players who can create and we might be alright. Oh and get rid of Vauxhall Vinny while you're at it please Jeff

There was a certain irony and typical of our luck that Lage made 2 subs at half time rather than waiting until the last 10 minutes and we then lost Semedo early in the second half!

Think that’s a bit extreme, personally. Bottom end of mid table, maybe
I'll be generous and give us a win against Norwich. That would be 12 points from 14 games, 33 across a season. That's relegation. This manager with these players will go down next season, we have to change one or the other or both

What about the 14 games before that?

Just because we're on a terrible run doesn't mean it's guaranteed to happen for an entire season.

Tell that to Sheffield United or Watford who in the last 2 years had very similar ends to the season and got relegated EP was saying this last week, it's nonsensical and ignores momentum, confidence and recency

I never wanted Bruno, but I do think that had he been backed he might have been able to do something special.

Those days are long gone now though. Bruno has completely unravelled. He’s damaged goods for us.

the problem is Shi - he’s either an incompetent megalomaniac or he’s Fosun’s hatchet man.

if Shi stays, we will be relegated sooner rather than later.

Shi is just a clueless buffoon who chanced his way into this job. He's no more qualified to run a football club than the tea lady.

Fosun have fucked up putting him in charge.

If they can't see that he's fucking shit then they should sell up.

Watched the game late last night without knowing the score and sat there speechless as the worst performance of the season unfolded.

Problems throughout the whole club, including a fair number of players either not good enough or had their time, but Bruno can't hide from the ire either.

I've tried to be balanced about him, but there's enough in the squad to be doing much more than the tripe he served up yesterday.

DW was right the other day (and we all know it) that if we went 1-0 down there was no coming back. But to be so defensively shocking, combined with our pathetic 'attacking' play is a toxic mix indeed. Either Bruno didn't know what the hell he was doing yesterday or he's lost/losing the players.

Thoroughly depressing and really concerned about bumbling into next season with such negative momentum.

Feel for everyone who spent time and money on that aberration yesterday

Looking at other threads some posts highlighted their lack of faith in Bruno Fosun and the players. Those who doubted it were proved spectacularly right by yesterday’s abject performance, that follows two other poor defeats to Newcastle and Burnley. Bruno has to go as do a number of other players and even then it might not be enough to keep us in the premier league. Our owners have failed to back recruiting who themselves have been like ostriches, burying their heads in the sand and completely failing to strengthen in the areas that were obviously needed -up front and midfield. It’s abysmal.

He started a player who could only play 45 minutes. That’s not bad luck, that’s terrible management. And as seen by his performance for the 45 minutes he was nowhere near fit. So doubly terrible management

Lage supports the fans booing:

Laying down the gauntlet to his squad, the Wolves manager said: “I need to smell which guys want to put the club at a different level. In any dressing room, any player would want to be in this position. I need to understand who wants to go to war. It’s not allowed for anyone to relax.”
I presume he’s got them all back in this morning for double training in the pissing rain.

He was allegedly at Manchester Airport this morning so I don't think he has got them in for training today.

We will see how those results go. I’m just basing out since Christmas where we have 24 points. 9 points in last 10 games but 16 in last 12.

Things are bad currently. I am in no way defending it or blind to it. I’m just not sure we CURRENTLY have that worry. If we start the season like we seem to be ending it, I will Ofcourse be changing my tune.
