Wolves 0 - MK Dons 0 The not good enough result thread

We have an abundance of midfielders in line Saville, Rowe, Wallace however a man I would like to see back and played is Lee Evans..

Saville, Rowe, Wallace are all absolute crap and I mean absolute.
Rowe really is the worst player ever to play since Steve Corica in fact I would play Corica now before Rowe.
Saville is an ineffectual clueless.
Wallace we aint seen much and dont need to!!

Evans was played when he was struggling and when he progressed to useful Mr Potato head got rid.

Assessing Saville during that bad spell of November 2014 is wrong. He's had a handful of games and sporadic. Rowe before injury was used as emergency left back and not in any proper midfield position. Wallace again has been used lightly. And now we're seeing yet another signing in Coady being laid to waste. Its all wrong in a sense and the blame does lay at the feet of Jackett.

Dunno what all the fuss is about Evans, did well in league 1, started good in the Championship but once opposition coaches had a look at him he was dire...rightly shipped out on loan, hope when he comes back that he can step up to the plate.

We haven't seen Wallace playing in his correct position to say he is no good.

I agree with you on Rowe and Saville though.

That's because the current midfield are doing next to nothing in an attacking sense..

Both the latter are either sitting or very defensive and that's much of a muchness alongside Coady, Price. The only ones that on paper are offensive in any sense is Edwards (And he's as effective as a chocolate teapot with the ball at his feet, and Jed Wallace who hasn't played as a number 10 yet. The recruitment has been pathetic indeed. 5 or 6 players to play in two positions.... My god man.

Evans had his limitations but he always looked for through balls and forward passes and could get into the box to support the striker as well. I'd rather try him behind the striker than Edwards at the minute. But then again I'd also rather give Wallace a chance before that too.

Thats true...but has been true for a season and a half with a few exceptions, I've considered our central midfield to be our most problem area for a while now, but we seem to sign players who are no better than what we already have or don't give them a chance to settle in to the first team

Im as gobsmacked as you and everybody else with the signings so far, take the signing of Coady in the summer, with Saville, Rowe, Price and McDonald in that are yet another sitting midfielder was signed, the only offensive midfielder we signing in Wallace isn't getting a gig.

The team is weaker now than the one who won L1. That is very depressing indeed

Mentioned it elsewhere yesterday, that was a League One game with none of Sako, Dicko or Griffiths on the pitch. I just will never understand Ken's mindset in that match - we're struggling badly for goals, we aren't winning any home games, we're in a position where we need wins, we're kicking off a run against very beatable teams...all of that and we still set up in such a negative way and make no real concerted effort to push for a victory. Insane management, I have no idea what he was frightened of.

That team yesterday might not win L1! MK are probably much weaker as well now they have lost Alli

More than depressing. An absolutely accurate comment and sums up what a shambles both Jackett and Thelwell have become

Dave Edwards, our resident #10 has five assists in the last two and a half seasons. Awesome.

How many goals in that same period?

He had 1 last season (Boro away) and I can only think of one this season (Blackburn) so the others must've been League 1.

9 in League One, 4 last season and 4 so far this season.

Better than a lot of our players then...

The problem runs deeper than number of goals scored, though.

I've seen numerous better league 1 games than that guff we settled for at the weekend.

KJ has been too scared & conservative since November 2014. He had no choice but the "go for it" in early 2015, as it was simply not possible to leave one of Sako, Dicko or Afobay (for our northern fans... :icon_wink: ) out of the team, when 2 of them usually scored on a weekly basis. But that was not by his design, more forced upon him.
This season has been a phenomenally defensive, almost cowardly set up. The reticence to attack is scary. It isn't that we're not capable of it. Even Jack price played some really good through balls saturday. Problem is, we don't do it enough. That has to be managers orders for me.
