Good result. Thought we played pretty well apart from a few moments when Lookman had the ball.
Plenty of time for Semedo to recover, but Hoever looks excellent so not overly bothered.
6 from 12 not as good as it could have been, but given the short pre-season and player turnover it’s ok.

Far from convinced by us at the moment the performance wasnt great at all. Luckily you won't see Saiss at LWB again all season so that should balance us better. 3 points was important so Nuno can work with them on the training ground either side of these international games.

Average performance, but did enough to beat a terrible team.
think we were a bit nervous there at the end, but we held on well enough. The Kamara chance was a killer for them.
Lots for Nuno to think about in the next two weeks I think - not sure the current system works personally.

We’re clearly lopsided without a proper lwb which will obviously change by the next game. If we play like that against Leeds though we’ll get thumped like we did at West Ham.

It wasn't fantastic by any measure. But we did deserve to win and we did win. That's all that matters in the end.
Semedo was very good throughout, Boly and Coady got over their shockers from last week, Neto was decent again (with a cracking finish), Raul improved a lot after a rubbish first half - although clearly he should have scored.
You don't just walk over teams at this level unless they give up. They didn't today, they showed a lot more backbone than they have done. But ultimately they've had one serious chance (all from our shit free kick near the edge of their box at that), we've had way more than that and there were some spells where we looked like we were starting to get it together.
We can play better than that, we will play better than that. For now just have the points. It's a better start now than either of the last two seasons too.

Made hard work of that but happy with the 3 points.
Sloppy and a bit slow first half without ever being threatened defensively. Started the 2nd half brilliantly and scored a really nice goal. After Lookman came on we looked very nervous defensively although, again, apart from the one Kamara chance and the dive for the free kick they didn't really threaten us.
Worked hard and deserved the win but let's be honest, it really should've been much easier for us.

It was not good at all.
Positives were Max Killman, Neto, and Podence.
Awful was Raul
The rest were distinctly below par,.
The shape defensively looks really bad.
We are a long was from the 7th Best team in the league, let alone top 6

6 points from the first 4 games (including city), with no pre season and whilst changing a third of the squad, I don’t think we can really complain too much tbh.
Average game, deserved to win, was getting nervous at the end though. I thought Semedo was excellent and Kilman did really well - wonder if he’ll get a run of games now?

A bit knee-jerk. It's very early on with a fair few new players and a couple of defensive injuries.
Hopefully Semedo will be OK for Leeds. We'll need to play a lot better than today against them.

I don't think it's as cut and dried as that, but given the quality of other teams this season I suspect you are right. Top half looks a challenge with performances like that. Play like this against Leeds and they'll murder us.

Won the game after last week it’s all I wanted. Clean sheet to. No conventional LWB available today so thought we managed that well. Do I think we’ll get 7th again probably not I said last week that this might be a transition of a season so coming lower in the league could easily happen.

Scraped it. Bringing Moutinho on was meant to give us control and yet it did the exact opposite, we stopped playing and just started lumping it forward, I don't think Moutinho completed a pass and was just running around chasing trying to get the ball back. Our game management is fucking appaling sometimes, how on earth we can't just keep the ball for more than 1 or 2 passes is beyond me.
Neto played with his head down a lot but was alert and good finish for the goal. Neves covered a lot of ground and was pressing very high at points - discussed this a bit in the evolution/revolution thread but if we're going to play higher up the pitch we really need to win the ball back higher, it doesn't sync with playing a low block.
Semedo looked bright and hopefully with time people will actually pay attention to his runs and get him the ball more - multiple times in the 1st half he was looking to run in behind and he wasn't seen/ignored.
System still looks very weird and the players don't look comfortable - might take a while for things to settle.
