Wolves 1-0 Sheff Utd: Verdict Thread

A first for me yesterday. Fell asleep during a Wolves game and missed the last 15 mins.

I love you Nuno and I'm in no doubt that you'll get us out of this creative 'rut' that we're stuck in but hurry up about it yeah?

Game was predictably frustrating, largely negative and dull.

Adama narrowly gets MOTM from me for at least trying to do something other than the constant safe Coady pass, good to see him getting some end product lately.

Semedo looking more and more confident and I hope we can get a big season from him in 21/22. He's very athletic and could be some player for us if we can get some partnerships and combinations going.

Every game like this puts even more pressure and uncertainty on this summer. We have so much to do to get back on track.

Performances aside, if you can't play well then find a way to get the points, and we've done that the past couple of games, which shouldn't be ignored. As DW said, 41 points is a decent haul, especially in a season where there have been so many mistakes and so much bad luck

Podence has posted on Instagram that yesterday was “probably the most saddest day of his life”

Just read that plus he was wiping his eyes during the minutes silence. Maybe he has suffered a bereavement

Stuck in a rut? This from a man who still wants to 'give it to Helder Costa' ;)

Assume Podence ran over your dog or something? Everyone can see he's nowhere near fully fit (compare him this game with the last time we played them) Yes he was poor this game but your painting him like he's Ali Dia !
That’s partly my point, I’m not so sure it’s about his fitness - I’m just not sure if he’s actually any good?

Firstly, if he’s not fit don’t play him.

Secondly, if you’re gonna play him - where does he play?

Is he a 10? Not sure he looks like one to me?

Is he a wide player in a 3? Maybe. But goes missing all the time and rarely influences games.

Apart from extremely isolated, sporadic moments of skill, I can’t honestly remember him having a good game for us.

He was poor in a few games before his injury (I think he was carrying something anyway) and hasn’t pulled up any trees since. I’m still hopeful he’ll prove to be a good buy.

I haven't really seen it mentioned but I thought Podence's pass for the goal was an excellent contribution. Hardly world beating but seen many players not look up in situations like that and try to just keep running themselves. And there was also the cut back to Adama before RAN's shot, which Adama should've hit first time.

So whilst we don't have him at full power, I wouldn't be scapegoating him on yesterday's game (I thought he was much worse versus Fulham).

I'm sure someone will correct me but I think that's the first time Semedo and Traore have got all the plaudits while playing together on the right...maybe they're starting to understand each others game...

His post sounds very much like someone close to him passed away. Not surprised he didn't have a very good game in that context.

The game itself was just another game in this shit season that seems to never end. I'm glad Nuno has just set up to win games however they can until we got enough points.
It's not pretty to watch most of the time, but at least it assures PL football next season, at which point fans will be back.

Glad to see Jose get a goal. I'm sure he'll get more in the last 6 games. Semedo seems to be getting better, and so is Traore. I think they will certainly keep Ait-Nouri, but not sure about Vitinha. Like others i'd like to see some of the fringe players get some decent minutes so we can see how they play.

Can we get in the top 10? Maybe, but we'll probably end up where we are now. Strike off 20/21 and reset next season, with Raul back and most of the squad fit again.

The goal yesterday? I thought it went Semedo, Donk, Traore, Jose?

Sheff Utd have lost by the odd goal 17 times now this season, so are not a typical "bottom of the Premier League" walkover. It has been a similar season for them to the last one only they won games narrowly instead of losing narrowly. They aren't a team that gets blown away that often so anyone expecting a Wolves masterclass verging on 1974 Holland was deluding themselves.

Why are people surprised that a workmanlike team with all their player fit were narrowly beaten by a workmanlike team with a chunk of it's "star players" missing due to injury?

Sheff Utd were on the brink of having relegation confirmed and so were always going to be tough to beat. This season have had a mistake in them at the back and don't have much in the way of a "killer instinct" in front of goal at the other end of the pitch (sound familiar?) but we did enough to see them off.

Meh, only 6 to go...

You post some drivel at times, but this has to be your most asinine remark?
If you smacked your head into a well and it really hurt would you keep doing it ? The people that come on here stating how it's ruining their lives, they cannot sleep they've never been so depressed, so so angry bordering on apoplectic hyperbole to the extreme, have you wondered why so many people avoid the matchday thread, so, who is the more asinine, really ?

ps, You can put me on ignore you know if my posts don't meet your acceptable levels of mirth and hilarity.

Nope, Podence received it just inside our half, a little half spin and played it into to Donck.
Yes, just watched it back. He’s clearly still got the touch and feet (the cross for the first against Fulham for example), but his pace and trickery are gone.
