Wolves 1-1 Southampton Verdict Thread

I know this always descends into factionalism, and as I've mentioned before I'm at peace with RAN and any of our kids learning on the job.

I just think it's fine if someone wants to critique our players, even after one game. The reaction is what is often more OTT to me, as if Jinky had said RAN was shit and shouldn't be anywhere near the team. It's ok to question stuff as we go along.

I will admit the Barry Douglas stuff was more than a little misjudged though 😀

I think RAN’s first touch is excellent, has the ability to take opposition directly out of play with one touch. If we could get Coady playing long passes to his feet it would be an excellent attacking move.

I think his first touch is great, and is one he uses to actually change direction and progress rather than just control it - funny how we all see things so differently..
Ok, let me rephrase that then, takes too much time on the ball and gets closed down..many times during the last 20 mins just check the game again

Agree with this, noticed it in first game especially, wish he'd show bit more self confidence on the ball though, obviously its normal for a young player coming in but in the game against PSG he looked a lot more self assured.
I'm sure it will come with Nuno's help and he will become many peoples favourite

You're watching a different game to me Fred. As others have said his first touch is superb if there is a criticism his physical strength isn't there yet.

Technically he's superb.

No, Im not..he is always trying to do something special with the ball instead of making a more effective move..will come with age i guess

Hmm, can't agree with this, seems to make time on the ball to me. Think he turns back/inside too often but that may be cos I'm watching on telly, can't see whats happening on the rest of the pitch

He’s a young inexperienced talent - he makes quite a few wrong decisions, passes back when he could run, crossed aren’t quite right, he can’t do much of anything with his right foot, and is impetuous in our own area.

having said that, he’s quick, has a great touch on his left foot, and has a tonne of ability at both ends of the pitch. Once he’s settled in, gets used to his role in the team, gets to know his team mates and the demands of the premier league, and gets some more games under his belt, he’s going to be a fantastic player.

we have to take the downs with the ups on young players like this - there’s no point claiming he’s perfect, or denying that he makes errors - but he’s going to excellent for us so is well worth the bedding in period.

Yes, agreeing with that of course..amazing talent and will be an amazing player. Just, got somewhat frustrated with him last 20 mins when he tried too much every time.. Great player though

No one ever has an issue with a positive opinion that is 'too early', only when it's critical. If Jinky had said RAN is amazing and the best LWB he'd seen Alan wouldn't have said a peep
Is this really a phenomenon that needs explaining?

Immediately jumping to the negative conclusion comes off as cynical at best. Besides, there is a way to be critical. IMO, it isn't by saying things like "ah yes I see why Barcelona got rid".

Not having a go at you specifically, btw.
