Two wins in a row? Who'd have thunk it!

Maybe Lage will start getting a bit more credit now too.

Two fantastically calm finishes from Hwang The DJ, both never leaving the ground or even hit hard. Just tucked away with care and precision. Looks like we have a great foil for Jimenez and a budding partnership maybe.

Neves didn't have a particularly great game today, and Trincao should be burying his chance. Other than that we played well enough, keeping possession and stopping their attacks short for the most part. Not all out attacking attacking like the early games but a decent balance now.

We're actually getting points and beating teams in the run of fixtures that we needed to, which is encouraging. Brentford anomaly aside.

Oh and the ref was shit.

Two wins in a row indeed. & so important to do that after a bad start. Great to see Raul back to somewhere near his best.

Jesus Bear, let the matchday thread run it’s course for 5 minutes or so.

Otherwise you end up with comments like this in the verdict thread -

Why on earth are we playing A Little Respect at the end of the game? Terrible song 😂

Good three points. Well done, lads. Onwards & upwards.

Apart from miss a virtual open goal, Trincao did fuck all. Why not swap with Adama on 60 minutes ? Why can defenders not clear a ball more than 10 yards too. We put ourselves in serious difficulties on so many occasions.
Though the use of subs was very poor, especially Adama with 2 minutes of extra time left - waste !

Backs to the wall stuff there, but overall we deserved the win. Just some very sloppy play at times and I don't know why we seem to have lost the ability to keep hold of the ball.

We won the vast majority of aerial balls, but consistently gave the ball back. And the safety-first stuff at the end.. I thought Brunoball was meant to be about scoring as many as we can!

You get too many reviews of the game in there if you let it run.

I gave it a good 60 seconds!

That's the spirit mate !

Back to back wins? Suits you sir!
We are learning to grind out wins thank fuck. Some good play and some wayward passing makes it nervy at the end, but at the moment we are 10th!
Hwang is certainly a nailed on starter. Still not sure about Trincao. He needs to put some bulk on.
Have a good weekend everyone!

You must be fun at parties

For 90% of the time we look comfortable in defense but still too often we do things as a team that top half sides just don’t do.

Hwang was immense, proper 10/10 stuff from him. Trincao did pretty well, too, sitter aside (and after about 70 minutes he was completely dead on his feet).

They only scored via a freak situation (largely of our own making) tbf. We lacked the confidence to see the game out by retaining possession and trying to get a third but they never created anything.

the clearances in those last ten minutes were incredibly pathetic, properly panicky stuff.

I like that front three if I’m honest. Trincao can be very lightweight still but he’s the best at receiving between the opposition midfield and defence and he gives good balance as Hwang likes to run in behind.

Tbf, without Sa being laid out on the floor (and stupidly getting back up instead of just staying down), they’ve created little. Trincao has missed an absolute sitter which would have made that an extremely comfortable win.

We do have a habit of making silly individual errors, though - so we need to cut that out.

Neves way below par today.

Hwang MOTM and Raul was excellent in the build up to both goals too. Exciting partnership there, hopefully.

I think we have options now with how we play. Raul and Hwang can play together and should always play together, whether we go for a wide player or an extra midfielder can depend upon what's required (assuming we have the personnel!)

Tota
Shout out for Saiss, thought the lad played a blinder even though he rarely gets any credit !
Totally agree.

In fact, Coady, Kilman and Saiss all solid today really.

Neves was a bit sloppy (he has made it into a habit?) but Moutinho tidy and Rauls best game since he got injured by miles.

Hwang might just be the finisher we’ve been screaming for.

Trincao is far too sleight. Bit like Podence in that respect. Obviously a neat and tidy player but physically needs to change.

Bruno could have made better/earlier changes today.

Pretty comfortable stuff. Bar a comedy of errors that’s a clean sheet and comprehensive win.

Hwang is fantastic.

Special shout to the incompetent in purple. When you give Raul offside, Newcastle can’t take the free kick fifteen yards inside our half.

Big thanks to Karl Darlow for three points today, awful on both of our goals. No way in a million years should he be getting beat so easily on the first and pretty similar on the second too.

Mostly nitpicking aside two good goals from our perspective, particularly from Raul on the 2nd. Made it more difficult than it should have been as Newcastle were awful, but three points is just that and good to see us get that win at home.

It is really important we get some points in there even when we have some injuries to important players like Jonny and Neto...I think we will be very dangerous when they come back, more options..shame on yerson though with that injury..Thought we owned the game for the most part but a crucial save from Sa when ASM had that chance in the second. I would have liked a few earlier subs maybe but cant complain too much when we got three points, great to see Hwang and Raul like Son and Kane ;) onwards and upwards, hopefully Bruno can get some more credit and rest now.

Nice win.

Positives - the steward who let me in with a spuds ticket, and was kind enough not to point it out

Hwang looks decent, he's a calm finishes and seems to be working well with our front line

Back to back wins, nice feeling

Negatives - the steward not pointing out I had the wrong ticket so I walked to the other end of the North Bank only to realise I was in the quadrant after all.

The fat k&€t who was sat on half of my seat for the game

The wife not being able to realise that a train that gets in for 4.30pm is not a good time for me to pick her uo

Oh and the ref.

Got some real concerns about that 2nd half but for now it's enough we didn't end up with another 1-1 against Mr Potato Head
