Three really, really bad defensive moments that you simply cannot have at this level. Then still we seem to have a total inability to score from open play.

And yet, that ultimately was a very encouraging performance and you can't help but feel that we are so very close to being a properly competitive top half team.

I think that we may see Dendoncker in for Bennett at the back next week.

We can't afford to switch off once in the Premier League, never mind 3 times in a game

Problem is it was three different defenders on the three goals (IMO, others here will say different of course).

But ultimately I think I agree that Leander's time has come.

First 2 goals defensively very poor but there onwards we showed character. MGW was utterly brilliant when he came on. A perfectly good goal disallowed we have every right to be dissapointed to lose.

We need to address not only personnel for the wingback positions but their utilization.

All things considered we did well.

Vinny to come in for the next game please.

Poor goals to concede and poor finishing cost us a point. It may be harsh but this is the premier League. Should have taken a point today. Blind twat of a lino cost us but we should have scored more in open play. Familiar failings.

The opposite of most of the season - crap defensively and great going forwards!

Hell of a cameo by MGW, hopefully Nuno will trust him with more minutes going forward, he was superb. I thought Doc and Costa linked up really well down the right, I’ve criticised Helder a lot this season, but though he was really good tonight - actually went past people and his movement was excellent. Won’t mention his finishing though....

Really disappointed to have lost that - the offside goal was a diabolical decision. That Lino seriously should go back to the lower leagues until he can get the basics right, that was a game changer.

We’re due some good luck - hopefully it will come against arsenal next match.

Just watched them again. Bennett lost his man for the 2nd and 3rd, just so slow of mind

Yeah! It's the managers job to pick a side to create chances. It's the players job to take them. We have just given spurs a real game and got fuck all! I reckon the powers that because his small the margins are.

This season for me it's not about losing to topn10 sides it's dropping points to shit like Cardiff Huddersfield Newcastle and the likes. Beat those and we are fine

Great performance on the whole, we outplayed Spurs for a lot of that which is seriously impressive but poor defending cost us dearly. Our poor finishing is also an issue, Jimenez tends to be a bit hit and hope when he gets in on goal, Costa put in a great performance IMO but his miss was awful after such a lovely pass from MGW. Bonatini picked up a good position at one point and then proceeded to step on the ball. I still think at some point we’ll find our shooting boots and I still love watching us play. That disallowed goal was proper shit too, could have changed everything.

I'd have been pretty happy with that, had we taken the at least four points we should have from the last two games. Someone wished for a 3-3, I think, and that's what it was, whatever the scoreline says. We're clearly still a distance from being a top 6 contender, but that performance would probably have seen off most of the rest. So frustrating, though, the mistakes we make and the chances we miss. Thought MGW was great tonight. What a shame he's not a contender for one of our weaker spots. Cav hardly shone but Leo looked completely out of his depth.

Defending was poor, particuarly Boly and Bennett I thought. Uncharacteristic but think it means Dendoncker starts over Ryan next time out.
Such a shame as we controlled so much of the first half and then suddenly we slip up twice and we have to chase, which isn't our strong suit.

Excellent going forward.
Jonny got forward far more than he has been today (his left peg let him down on occasion but he was a genuine threat today).
Helder was fantastic but he HAS TO SCORE. More of that please.
Gibbs-White with a brilliant performance from the bench. Wonderful ability. Spurs couldn't handle him.
MOTM Costa with Gibbs-White getting a very very honourable mention.

The other big shame is the offside goal. Only being one goal down instead of two, maybe we don't chase the game so much, maybe we don't end up conceding a third?
Also should we have had a third pen, Sanchez hauling down Jimenez (?)?

Very encouraging, and very frustrating. We're going to be fine this season, but it all depends on where your ambitions lie. In every other Prem season we've had, we would be cursing bad luck and move on. Given where we know Fosun want us to be, there's plenty of room for upgrades. There is probably space for a new player across every line, but focusing on the positives, what a performance from MGW. Second half, I felt Coady played very well too, and I'm dying to see what Jonny can do on the right but we know that's not going to happen until the transfer window. Good-ish games from Neves, Costa and Raul.

So on we go. Arsenal will be tough, but followed by Huddesfield & Cardiff, you've got to hope 6 points is achievable, and 4 is acceptable.

Hard to be annoyed with the team but the defending for the goals is poor!

What was encouraging though was the way we committed players forward more. It left us exposed more often but against 'lesser' teams I think we will benefit with a more confident approach.

I don't think anyone individually had a bad game, maybe Bennett had one of his poorer games but he was still pretty good aside from a mistake on the second goal. In the coming weeks I can see Dendoncker getting his opportunity.

Gibbs-White was brilliant when he came on. He is deserving of more game time and I think Nuno will trust him more often - as it can give Moutinho and Neves a breather every now and then.

Costa was excellent second half just a shame he missed that 1v1 as it would have been a brilliant goal. I thought while Cav did OK he has had better performances.

Nuno's subs were spot on, shame he couldn't get them on at 2-0 really. Not sure what game others watched but while he had a couple of moments where he mis-controlled the ball Leo had a very good impact? He did pretty much what we needed him to and helped change the game for us.

Leo was brilliant aside from the bit where he left the ball behind him in the box. Notably, he seemed to be playing in a deeper position than usual even for him and was looking to play through the wide forwards, which I thought he did excellently.

Just me. But when Leo was on we played 3 4 1 2 and it seemed to work. Anyone else see that?

Leo played a ball down the line well (though under no pressure), and did ok for the pen, although as all the commentators highlighted, it was trippiers error rather than Leo’s brilliance. Other than that, he was slower than cement, and achieved nothing, including treading on the ball for his goal scoring opportunity - this is clearly way, way above his level. Hopefully we can get some of our money back in January.

Yes, it was fairly clear. It worked a treat as it's obvious Leo is no striker at this level but his touch and intelligence were allowed to shine in a deeper position.
