With Wolves participating next round of the Carabao / League Cup to be drawn shortly. What hopes have we got that Bruno Lage and his small squad will take this cup seriously this season? Quite a few Championship clubs got knocked out last night through playing weaker teams. Plus when the top PL teams come into the competition they'll play a weaker team too as they have European matches + PL games to prioritize. So it would be our best chance to win a major trophy since 1980 imho.

After the great FA Cup run to Wembley in the semi final in 2019 wouldn't we like to do that once again or better? Yet will our Portugal international players be too knackered come January to even think about a good cup run. This will be a season like no other where PL teams must have large squads with the World Cup in between and all the other domestic and euro cup competitions to play for. It makes for a great opportunity for none top 6 PL teams in the cups this season if their managers take the domestic cup comps seriously?

The FA Cup is too far away to predict, if we were in a decent injury situation and mid table I'd like to see us give it a proper go. My first real questioning of Nuno was when he chucked the Southampton game a couple of years ago.

I don't see how we can afford to play much more than an U23 team in the 2nd Round of the league Cup though - essentially Saturday's bench less Coady +3

I can't imagine us really going with a strong team unless we get into the later rounds. Fringe players, 1st team players need some game time and youngsters I'd imagine is what we'll see.

@Del Woppio but has there ever been a World Cup in between a season in the last 20 + years?
Like I said this will be a season like "no other in football history" far better chance's for lower teams as top six have more games for players to play in and games to prioritize than domestic cups.

If we make a couple of signings and end up with a bit of depth and get some favourable draws you never know.

I don't expect us to put much priority into the cups at all.

They already do that, City's 2nd 11 would finish in the Top 6, Liverpool are starting to get close to that now too

As if we didn’t know, Man City pose two massive problems in the domestic cups.

Firstly, they have two squads - both equally equipped to win anything at all.

Secondly, Pep wants to win absolutely everything he enters.

To have success in Cup competitions, you need a bit of strength in depth.

We can currently barely string eleven fit players together.

How are Walsall in the south part of the draw but Villa in the north part. Walsall is clearly further north than Birmingham?

Because they were in the Southern for the first round and it's decided from there, if they'd lost it would have been Swindon

It looks like we will be at home against PNE week of 22nd Aug
Chances of it being sold out?
(I'll be back home this week and would love a ticket!)

I think you’re pretty safe here.

You might even be able to sit where you like 😂

Are you here for the 5 minute argument or have paid for the full half hour?
