Wolves Academy Thread

Great news - much, much closer to me! :icon_lol:

Soz, Kenny, Tredman etc.

You can have them. They are dead to me.

Wait until they break your heart though and move to the new purpose built Fosun Academy Arena in Wolverhampton.

Ultimately I've lived here for eight and a half years, it's not a very long journey from here and not once have I gone (I've been to nearly every game that's been held at Molineux though). It's one of those where if a train got cancelled I'd be stuck on a desolate train platform doing nothing for a couple of hours, plus no-one ever wants to also go along, I refuse to be that weird guy who stands on his own at reserve games.

Kenny aspired to be that guy and was spending good money to his dream come true. He even had an oversize parker on order.

True on all counts and I already own an oversized parker*

*well was oversized before lockdown, guessing it is now just a snug one

I'm expecting to see quite a bit of investment in the U23's/U18's for next season - we're really thin as it stands given the players we've already let go and the fact we're setting up for a 'bomb' squad between the first team and these guys. The likes of Csoka, Agboola and Mayounga have barely featured this season for whatever reason and they make up 3/5 of the u23 defenders we still have

I suspect we'll look to get loans for Sanderson, Nya, John, Giles, Ennis, Dadashov & Ronan.

Francis, Watt, Hanne, Diallo, BAS, Samuels look like candidates for the 'bomb' squad along with Benno, Miranda, Mir, Bonatini and Norris

Based on who we have on the books at the moment, something like this perhaps?

Sondergaard, Otasowie, Marques, Richards, Matheson, Taylor, Perry, Bueno, Campbell, Shabani, Campana

Pardington, Scott, Estrada, Mayounga, Taylor, Hesketh, Dongda, Bugarin and Harkin are all signed up professionally too as far as I'm aware.

It's very, very young though and wipes out most of the U18 squad from this season.

Watt looks like he’s going on loan to Bradford, he did really well on loan in league 2 this season.

Ah that's good, I was surprised he had to drop right to the bottom of League 2 to secure a move in the first place. He's always looked neat and tidy whenever I've seen him.

Edit - sounds like it's a permanent deal.

Agboola has been injured all season, had a couple of bad injuries but I think he will be with the U23s when they resume. Csoka played quite a bit for the U23s this season didn't he? Especially under Kennedy. Mayounga started to play more I think but yeah, will see what happens with him too.

I think there's been a clear strategy to strip it back down a bit as it did seem quite bloated, a lot of young professionals it felt like who either needed senior football or not good enough for the U23s.

Cundle and Bueno to add to the U23s group. Couple more keepers I don't think you have listed. Jack Hodnett in the U18s too (was in England U15 squads at one point but not quite kicked on). And then we don't know what the intake of 1st year U18s is like as that could play a big part too, if we have taken in a big group of players.

Csoka had a run before Christmas but was absent from the squad from the new year until the lockdown - injury perhaps.

Missed Cundle, had him in my suggested XI there but swapped him for Taylor and then forgot to add him back in. I know Deutsch rates Jack Scott highly so he could feature if Matheson goes back out on loan.

I've only listed ones there where I think we've confirmed pro deals - as you say, there's Smith, Young and O'Shaugnessy, Hodnett, Joseph, Hesketh, Pinnington, Sangare, Forrester, Corbeanu and Carty who are all on the website but I'm unsure where they currently stand in terms of deals.

Ah okay. Think they are all first years so will be working towards a pro deal this year. Though if they haven't been given one yet it's not a great sign. I'd guess Corbeanu and a couple of the keepers may get one

Yeh i suspect so - we seem to be pretty good at announcing pro deals now, so I expect we'll hear something soon enough.

I saw Ty Barnett who I'm pretty sure you mentioned on here somewhere before started featuring for the u18s just before lockdown.

Yeah, I think he will still only be an U16 this season too! But I imagine he will feature plenty for the 18s next season

Just looked it up:

Pardington, Smith, Young, O'Shaughnessy, Scott, Richards, Joseph, Agboola, Bueno, Taylor, Perry, Cundle, Hesketh, Dongda, Bugarin, Carty and Harkin have all signed pro deals from those who were in and around the u18's this season.

Hubner and Lonwijk were signed in January for decent fees so I assume they're signed up on pro-deals already, or have the pre-contracts in place ala Marques.

That leaves Sangare, Forrester, Corbeanu, Pinnington, Hodnett and Estrada from the current established U18 crop as soon to be second years not yet with a deal in place from the information I can see.

Diallo also signed an extension recently so suspect he won't be one for the in-between group yet.

Nice work!

I guess Diallo may be in the U23 squad/loan move for now. Can't say I see him making our first team though!
