Wolves Academy Thread

Lewis Richards has put the U23s one nil up at Norwich.

As mentioned in another thread no Perry or Corbeanu who will be travelling with first team. Matheson on bench. Hesketh starting

missed the goal, we look very good in possession, tidy on the ball and creating some good opportunities...but god we are reluctant to shoot, too often one too many passes imo

You’d hope that the kids in the Academy set-up would look at the likes of Otasowie, Kilman, Corbeanu and Perry being involved in the match day setup at the moment and take inspiration from that.

we had an academy player in one of the recent '2006' squad camps for England. Will be an U14/15, which is good stuff as Ty Barnett has also been in squads recently.

From the athletic (bits of a bigger article)

Birmingham City are willing to offload some of their top academy players as part of a potentially money-spinning scheme, The Athletic can reveal.

Rico Browne, 17, is expected to be the next player out the door. The first-year scholar is highly-rated and played in the FA Youth Cup as a schoolboy last year but Birmingham City will not stand in his way if they receive a suitable offer.

Multiple sources have told The Athletic this is also the situation for other players in the club’s academy at an even younger age.

Local Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to take advantage and have already drawn up a list of targets. Both clubs are recruiting aggressively to bolster their age-group teams across the board and see this as a quick way to strengthen.

From sky sports - looks like an ideal point to restock our academy?

Derby County will look to sell a number of their most talented young players this month, to help deal with their debts.

Whilst Derby have no plans to sell any of the senior players that interim manager Wayne Rooney considers an integral part of the first team, the club is looking to generate significant funds from its academy graduates to bring in some much needed cash.

Sibley and Knight I would certainly be keeping tabs on

Bellingham is at Birmingham! But sure, get him from there too haha!
Yeah, that’s the one above - both Birmingham and derby selling their best academy products according to the articles...

it’s really interesting to see whether brum are selling their youth players they can make money from, with a view to then closing their academy.

The Birmingham situation is VERY strange too.

They keep claiming they are working towards Category 1 status, but are selling off the best youngsters as you say, but also the B and C team concepts they have claimed they are going forwards with don’t fit in the EPPP on the face of it.

I don't get the Brum thing, who would their B team play against?
Brentford and Huddersfield have pulled out of the academy programme to do a B team and they’ve basically just organised their own fixtures against various clubs (often abroad I think).

where the Birmingham thing doesn’t make any sense is how that works if they are applying for Category 1 like they claim to be

The u23's have also moved to a back four.

Could be Terry Taylor at centre back I suppose, but most likely a back four. Very narrow shape with those forward options
