Wolves V Blackburn Nothing much to report Verdict Thread.

A year on from our 4 0-0 home draws under Ken. Not much has changed.

Nothing happened. Except a wonderful piece of indecision from Lonergan that actually made me laugh.

Seriously one of the worst games I've ever seen.

I'm not rating the players because they didn't do anything. Blackburn were worse than Rotherham.

Absolute shocker.

Special mentions to Lonergan, Saiss and Dicko for putting in some truly horrendous performances. If we can get a third of our money back for Cavaleiro then we should take it, offers next to nothing.

Sounds like a thrilling game. Don't understand this theory from Lambert about not blooding the kids. We have fuck all to play for, and he must surely know by now that most of this squad aren't fit for purpose for a team with aspirations of the top 6.

I find it fucking appalling that the owners representative has stated funds are available and we want quality in every position and this shower of cunts saunter round and haven't really put any effort in. It really ought to have put them on notice hearing that but it didn't because the fucking moron of a sporting director has given the same players huge long term contracts. Ethan Ebanks-Landell is yet to return but nevertheless contracted until he's 27/28 for fuck sake.

We learnt nothing new about anyone today. Pointless to judge anyone based on that - the quintessential 'on the beach' performance.

We just need the season to end.

Most of them will probably be in the starting eleven for the first game next season.

He's not the worst player, but I expect more for £8m. I expect him to do something out of nothing, anything.
Two points

8m doesn't get you that player anymore and he can't do it all on his own.

Costa looks worse without Cav. Cav looks worse without Costa. Until we have better quality in all positions they'll continue to blow hot and cold.

It came to a point that I thought both teams were actually trying not to score. It'd be interesting to see if there were any big bets on 0-0.

Third point - he didn't cost £8m.

Well we need to spend £80m then. We're screwed.

Game of two very poor halves. The general issue was that we never seemed to be willing to move the ball up the pitch quickly enough - nor were we willing to run up the pitch. The most baffling element for me was that we knew they played it across the back a tonne but never seemed willing to exert much pressure on them.

First half saw us go 4-4-2, but Cavaliero and Marshall were given far too much licence to roam and ended up playing inside, almost resembling CMs. We got nothing going forward minus a 35/40 yard half volley by Saiss. Blackburn seemed bizarrely content to allow us to be a mess and passed the ball around without offering much.

Second half we went 4-2-3-1 and I'm not sure what was happening really except that whatever it was didn't work. Blackburn had a lot of good opportunities, placing the ball in good areas but could never seem to divert a serious shot towards goal minus a deflected Bennett free kick that lonergan saved.

Lonergan - 4/10 - Woeful for 80/85 minutes as he dithered on his line and never seemed willing to release the ball quickly or accurately (and the one time he did he got a sarcastic cheer from the crowd!). The last 5-10 minutes he was a bit better and confidently came off his line to claim loose balls. Saved a free kick well, but whenever they whipped in a corner he was always looking nervous on his line.

Doherty - injured

Saville - 5/10 - Some good work defensively but his ball control was really poor. Didn't offer anything in an attacking sense. I would be amazed if he were offered a new contract.
Williamson - 5/10 - Won the headers but his lack of pace was evident on several occasions. This wasn't a game that he impacted majorly due to the poor quality of the two sides but he kept a clean sheet. Shouldn't be given a contract.
Stearman - 4/10 - Quite poor, didn't win his headers but got some good interceptions. Sometimes tried to be too smart and almost got caught out for it, e.g. he tried to do a backwards header to Lonergan and instead conceded a corner.
Coady - 5/10 - Square peg, round hole: move on.

Marshall - 4/10 - Didn't get anything done and was a big reason for why we couldn't do anything in the attacking third. Was always found in the centre in the first half which meant we had nothing at RM. In the second half he just didn't seem at it at all and was taken off following a clash with Gallagher(?).
Saiss - 3/10 - I don't think he can cut it at this level regardless of whether its Edwards or someone else next to him. Didn't seem to impact the midfield and so many of his passes were either hit too heavily or hit out of play altogether.
Edwards - 4/10 - Finished 1st in the cross country.
Cavaleiro - 5/10 - Tried hard but was a victim of the dire circumstances of the game. He did start to put in several good crosses and start some good moves on the right in the second half but these never came off. Had our only shot on target but - with hindsight - he should have looked for a gold shirt.

Weimann - 6/10 - worked hard, got into good positions throughout and tried to get the ball moving. He always seemed to be in good spaces but the pass was never good or accurate enough for him. Worth preserving with.
Dicko - 2/10 - Absolutely horrendous, his first touch was as bad as any I've seen and rightly hooked at HT. I wouldn't be surprised if that was his last game in a gold shirt for us.

Bodvarsson - 5/10 - Tried, got into good spaces but the crosses were always dealt with by the keeper and the defence.
MGW - 4/10 - Came on as a CAM and looked up for it with a marauding run leading to a last ditch clearance to deny him when the ball fell back to him. Then he was put at LM and didn't offer much else for the rest of the game.

On another note I quite liked the Blackburn keeper - Raya - he always seemed willing to play the ball quickly and had the ability to kick it accurately. Possibly a signing for us to look out for, especially if Blackburn are relegated?

Stearman did well I thought. But of course the concensus on here won't have that baaa

Not necessarily.

Stearman is decent enough, as long as the regular rickett is out of his game. Sounds like today was the sort of game he should do reasonably well in.
