Wolves v Stoke: Carabao Cup Rd 2

If only we had played him yesterday....

Firstly it’s a game we’ve lost so I’m naturally annoyed.
Really not buying the “it’s only the league cup so who cares attitude” end of the day it’s a competition we could have realistically gone very deep into or won.

I don't think anyone doesn't care, but I don't think it warrants much soul-searching, especially with the lack of games we've had. Like I said, these things can happen in one-off cup games.

Nuno will have learnt from it, he's openly stated he wants to move away from being predominately a countering team, but it isn't gonna happen in the second game of the season. Shame Vinagre didn't show he's a long-term option given this opportunity too. The unreliability of Ruddy is the other big take from it, and will no doubt give Nuno food for thought.

I'd forget the '£150m worth of talent' angle too, that's not how it always works, especially not in early cup rounds.

It's easy to be disappointed. But annoyed? Nah. We should have created more and done better, but meh. It's only one game with a few new players first starts. I didn't lose any sleep. Just move on to the next game.

Very poor showing from what was a pretty much full strength team, there's no getting away with that.

Do I go for oh well it was only the league cup, no absolute bollocks.

Having said that its early on in a season we've not really had a preseason for so we may well see a few blips in these early stages.

That’s where I am - but there’s no excuses for the league now, no cup or European games getting in the way, we can focus properly, so I expect a good first half of the season.

This gives Nuno and his coaching team the opportunity to improve some of our players as well as getting them really well drilled as a team. The good thing is that they’ve shown that’s what they do when they have the time to do so.

Oh and my guess is that jota was asked to go on the bench and has refused

Im very sure they would have known the team at the hotel and Jota wouldnt have even been on the coach if that was the case.

Social media says on the Jota stuff and why he didn't play,
His girlfriend had the baby last night,
Liverpool have made a bid, Jota thrown a strop and refused to play,
Liverpool have already bought him and it's the start of the team being sold off, because fosun

So, out of the three domestic competitions, the League Cup isn't the lowest priority?

Last season when we were in four competitions I would reluctantly have agreed. This season I would have lucked a run as it could have brought some European football even if it was a lesser competition.

If UEFA wanted to do that why not reintroduce the cup winners cup?

Just seen Fabio's miss from a different angle and it's an absolute shocker.

Hopefully not the second one as I am sure his baby is due in February.....

That Ruddy effort is as bad as you'll ever see. Stand up properly and it's about as routine a save as you can get possibly get.

Still not as bad as the one he conceded v Shrewsbury in the FA Cup.

Still no clue how that one went in

He shouldn't play for Wolves again really, if a situation came about where he had to I'd be very concerned. Even at times in the season when we won the Championship he'd lose concentration or get beat with a shot you thought he should save. 2 Seasons older now and in those seasons he's hardly played. IMO He is not an able backup.

Sad to say but I agree. He's a great bloke to have around the club but he's not an adequate back-up and that's his role in life.

He’s terrible.

Off the top of my head:

Should have saved both goals against Shrews away. Should have saved both goals at home too.

Should have saved the penalty against Watford. Certainly should Have done better for the winner.

I’d hoped for him to have done better on at least one of the goals against Villa in the Carabao.

I reckon Rui saves all of them
