womens world cup?

Shame to end it that way. I only got in to watch last 20. Although they had a couple of decent efforts near the end I never really felt like they were going to equalise

Final ball was absolutely awful. They looked very tired at the end.

Third place matches are just meh really aren't they? Nobody wants to be there. Hopefully in their next tournament they can make the big show. The draw fucked them up. It was unfortunate that the three best sides were on the same side of it. It should have been England v USA tomorrow. In a semi-final England would have seen off Sweden comfortably, in my opinion.

US with almost all of the attacking intent (and I would guess possession) so far but netherlands doing a good job blocking everything.

Kinda feels inevitable that they will score eventually...

definitely feel the more likely to score

netherlands have had a couple good close counters though, and they are good at corners. all it takes is one quick 5 second counter and US could be losing.

And it's a goal. What was the defender doing with that challenge?!

rapinoe is so good at pens

kind of a bummer if that will end up being the winner, I'd like to see the team score from open play

Jesus - Netherlands forward had about three opportunities there to shoot from 8 yards out, and didn't take one.

Worthy winners, a good way ahead of the rest and they have set a serious benchmark. If others want to compete they have to

1. Pass better
2. Defend better
3. Keep the ball better

USA have been the best at all those in this tournament. Congrats to you Americans on here. Now you just need your men to start playing better :taunt:

Yes- tongue was firmly in the cheek as the USA are so much better than the rest at all of those basic things. Thats my only real disappointment6 from the tournament. The standard was poorer than I hoped to see. Harsh I know , but with all the talk of higher wages or even parity with the mens game , womens football has a long way to go. Rachel Yankee interview says USA 15 yuears ahead of the rest of the world at the moment because of their infrastructure and as a squad they looked it here.

Point taken re Saunders though lolz.

PS

For England Bronze is utterley wasted at Right Back. She has so much talent and strength I think she could do something centrally in midfield really well and thats where we looked weakest. Daly Mead and white in a front three with Bronze central in midfield. They also need better central defenders who can pass it out.

That was members of the American women's team who said that about themselves vs. the American mens team. They proved their point I think. It was then picked up by the MSM and deliberately taken out of context to encourage their readership to scream "it's political correctness gone mad"
