Root scores at a decent rate too.

    That's a pretty big difference!

Buttler has one century in 41 Tests, that is awful.

He should focus more on making big scores, rather than quick nifty 40s.

    Edit - Root that is

Batting at 7 with a lower order always prone to collapse?

I'd actually play Foakes, but I don;t think there is much in it.

We'll probably end up with Baristow anyway

Foakes is a miles better keeper and I don't think we'd lose anything at all in terms of batting.

Buttler and Bairstow are both critical to the white ball teams, leave them there.

I know that his conversion rate into 100's isn't what we would like considering the amount of 50's that he's hit but if all of our batsmen could average 48 I'd be a happy man.

Alistair Cook in the times is picking Denly at 3 over Crawley. Explains a lot about his captaincy.

Denly sticks to test cricket like wet shit to a blanket! Remarkable!
    Carole Baskin is to blame.

Looks like Stokes captaining the First Test then. So you would think a straight shootout between Denly and Crawley as they'll both probably play. Obviously given that Denly is shit and old then it shouldn't be a contest, but there we are.

Interesting to see how Stokes captains, might be a bit more ruthless and a bit more of a risk taker than our previous captains.

I'd have given it to Burns personally, but with Stokes being vc it had to be him I suppose

Fred looked alright in India. Excellent result that was. Then was beyond rubbish in Australia and managed to knacker himself for life by overbowling himself vs Sri Lanka at home.

Didn't Botham lose every single game Or close to it anyway.

I didn't realise that he was 35. If he can stay fit it is a very good signing.

Buttler will be vice-captain for the first Test. Shouldn't even be in the team.

You've already got loads of spinners, stop hoarding them. Ours is retiring soon (and we let one go to Yorkshire because we wouldn't pick him, which is still a sore point)

Why would any spinner want to leave Cyderabad?

Jeets has pretty much the best record of any spinner in the last 10 years, it's fine here.

Because they want to play more than the last 6 weeks of the season

You play one spinner all through the season. There's a reason he went on loan to Yorkshire.

If he thinks either he or Leach will be England's number one spinner then he doesn't need to move, if he doesn't then he does
