Dujon was magnificent. Only marsh and gilchrist challenge him at his peak for me

Would have Bell ahead of Root in that team tbh.

I finished work today meaning I'm completely free for the whole first test.

    Perfect timing!

I was tempted to do that myself, but with Vaughan, Trott and so on, I wanted something explosive with KP in the middle order

    Cook
    Trott
    Vaughan
    Pietersen
    Flintoff
    Prior
    Broad
    Swann
    Anderson
    Harmison

I can't wait for it to start but have foreign visitors here at work from 11-3pm. A ticket for tomorrow compensates for missing out on half a days TMS.

Here's hoping we win the toss and bat.

I'd be tempted to bowl due to the cloud cover this morning. India rolled us over on the first day two years ago in similar conditions and I think that Aussie bowling attack is better than theirs.

A day with the office door closed, TMS on, and possibly not doing very much actual work. Lovely.

Agar set to debut for the Aussies.

A left arm spinner picked to get KP out?

It could be, but I think it is more a case that the Aussies will try to get a balanced bowling attack. They have three good pacemen, but need some variation in there.

Ashton Agar has been selected by Australia. He's 19 and has only played 10 first class games - left arm spinner to 'fox' KP no doubt.

Really frustrating being so close to the Ashes this week yet so far away as I watch it in my living room!

It could also be that because Trent Bridge doesn't turn much, by selecting a left armer he can use the foot holes

Picking Agar is a clear sign that they think Nathan Lyon is useless. Which is pretty accurate.

Agreed, he should not really have been in the touring party, but Australia are struggling to find decent spin bowlers at the moment.

Interesting listening to Alec Stewart. England must not be complacent. The tourists of 1989 were tagged the worst to ever come here, and they won 4-0. Though how a side with the likes of Steve Waugh, Taylor, Border and Lawson was regarded as poor still baffles me.

    Finn plays.

England win the toss and bat.

We've only done that once and won since the early seventies.

Right decision in my opinion. Pick the best bowlers, not those who can bat.

I think both teams have decent bowling line ups, the big difference could well be the batting. Th Aussies look a bit fragile in their top order, and I am not sure how they will cope against Anderson.

Warner not picked by Australia. That is a bit of a surprise.

Smith plays for the Aussies. He wasn't in the original party.

He used to be a bit like our all rounders. Not good enough to get in to the team as a bowler or a batsmen. A Lehmann pick.

It could well be. It is cerainly a gamble by Australia. Looks like they want to try to re-inforce their batting.

All this excitement is making me want to get back into Cricket, although it has been over 10 years since I played as I switched to Rugby. May have to look at switching back...
