    So here at the teams:

England Cook, Root, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Bairstow, Prior, Broad, Swann, Finn, Anderson

Australia Watson, Rogers, Cowan, Clarke, Hughes, Smith, Haddin, Siddle, Pattinson, Starc, Agar

I may be proved totally wrong, but that Australian batting line up does not look that strong. They will rely heavily on Clarke

A big first hour or so. There is cloud cover which will help the bowlers. England will need to bat well early on, though they could easily lose a couple of early wickets if the ball moves a fair amount. Testing times ahead.

Its probably in the Annoy thread but I don't see why you have to have an operatic type sing the National Anthem. The hairs stand uo when ordinary folk sing it not when an opera diva type does on a mike. You'd be better off dragging a bloke out of the crowd.

I started to sag when Agnew mentioned his name. Way past his sell by date.

This tactic is ludicrous, they did it in 2010 and KP promptly went and scored a double hundred.

A maiden over! Get him off. He can't even describe the action, whats going on or what just went on.

Not a great first over from Pattinson. Maybe a little nervous.

Mitchell Starc looks a lot like Gareth Barry, never clocked that before.

Good boundary from Cook. It is good that he looks to be in a positive frame of mind.

I absolutely loathe Henry Blofeld - being a fatuous windbag is one thing but being completely unable to accurately describe the action, score, bowler, batsman or anything is just bad broadcasting.

Thankfully I should only be reliant on radio commentary for a short period on Friday, otherwise I'm set fair for watching it.

Steady enough from Root, though he is being given plenty of sighters. How long before he goes after one of them?

Starc with a lively pace, getting bounce and movement. Had Cook in a bit of bother there.

He's not Andrew Castle so for now I'm happy to put up with him in 20-minute bursts, but his "brimmers" schtick will get mighty old by the end of the summer.

Thought Steve Harmison sounded quite good when he was talking to Aggers pre-match.

Looks tricky to bat against the odd ball Australia are getting right, get through the first hour and should get easier.

He was good on Five Live this morning. They had him bowling at Rachel Burden apparantly in a mini-dress pads and sandals (Burden not Harmison).

One of the rare joys of having the Australians in town is that they usually get Jim Maxwell in for the Australian comms and HERE HE COMES!

Agreed. The Aussie bowlers are not bowling all that well, too many wide balls.
