If so, send it over to me and I'll sort it out.

Nice one, cheers! Day 3 is linking to day 2's route, FYI.

Route looks great, nothing too savage from a climbing perspective but plenty of up-and-downs to keep the blood pumping. I reckon you'll sail through as long as you keep a steady pace and keep plenty in reserve to pull you through the last few miles each day.

Massive chapeau to you mate - will be an awesome achievement

Cruelly, the last day looks the toughest! Adrenaline and emotion will take care of that tho...

There's some great stop off points including all the beaches, the 'bloody Omaha' American war cemetery (the graves of the brothers who inspired Saving Private Ryan are buried here) and a finish across the Arc D'Triomphe and down the Champs Eleysee.
The first chunk of that would have been close to the journey my dad took in June/July 1944 (not on a bike though) - not the whole route as were somewhat to the north & crossed the Seine at Rouen

Suspect that he had an inkling seeing as how he was in uniform & in charge of a troop of light artillery 25 pounder guns (there might have been some clues)

Sorry Parkin, just playing, no intention to cause any offence. I'm sure you are immensely proud of what he did for his country.

Should have put a 'smillie' up after it, certainly wasn't upset - & yes I was proud of what he did though tbh we didn't know that much about it till well after he died when my brother researched his war & wrote a book about it (only could have happened after my mother died 20 yrs later & we could get at the family archives which contained, among other things, his diaries from that period)

Thanks Machin. It was fecking wet yesterday.

    Dry today.

The history of the D-Day landing and meeting the modern day veterans using the service is phenomenal and harrowing in equal measure.

I'll post some photos and a timeline when I've finished.
