Today's Shredded Wheat Bite Size was topped with this cheeky little crunchy treat from Lidl:

    Marvelous.

Well, I'm not arguing that! That's why I have about a third of a regular portion as a Shredded Wheat topping

Just had a hard boiled egg on my work break. Bit of salt and plenty of salad cream.

My dog has Weetabix and Bran Flakes in the same bowl for breakfast, so you're not alone.

I'll regularly top up Shredded Wheat, Fruit and Fibre or Cornflakes with Granola. I don't know what all the outrage is about.

Why wouldn't you just have Granola?

I get that, a bowl of granola is too heavy.

Edit - yoghurt and granola is ace, it's not two cereals so I guess that's allowed.

If I eat cereal, it has to be a bowl full. If I ate a bowlful of Granola I'd probably be exceeding my daily limits in most areas so I mix it with a healthier option.

Which are the ' healthier ' options when it comes to cereals? They all seem pretty high in sugar to me, that's what puts me off them.

Porridge would be my cereal of choice and I will mix fruit into it - No Granola on top.

If sugar content bothers you then you should really ditch beans...

Biggest bug bear for me would be differing consistencies. Add milk to that and you've got half the bowl going soggy long before the other, just a mess.

I just don't see why it's something you'd need to ever do. If it's a matter of health then just have some self control to stick to the more nutritious choice or restrict yourself to a smaller serving of something else. If taste is the issue then why do you need to add your fancier cereal to get the taste rather than just adding the flavourings yourself directly to the bland option.

It gets to something when Mark tries to throw out lectures about healthy eating. Whatever happened to the Mark is going to die soon thread?

Hardly call it a lecture, I mean I'm more likely to go for the third option of just picking whatever cereal I want and consuming as much as I want rather than being a massive nonce about it.

Can always go for a run or something to offset it.

Or mix them and get best of both worlds.

Thanks for the nutritional advice, but I think I'm ok on that front

Only cereal I ever eat is cornflakes. Must be Kelloggs. Its like Heinz tomato ketchup, no other brand can substitute.

Full fat milk ideally. When I was a kid we used to have gold top on them so you got the creamy bits! Nice sprinkle of sugar.

I know this isn't the healthy option, but it is ace.

I could just about tolerate Rice Krispies the same way. Shreddies are alright I suppose. We ate a lot of them because you got the Star Wars stickers, and picture on the back of the packet back in the day. When my brother comes back from Oz, the first thing he buys is a box of shreddies.

Muesli-style stuff just leaves me cold, unfortunately.

Alpen is amazeballs but I eat it by the bucket load so it's banned from the house.

Do they still do the Shreddies with the icing on? That stuff is better than crack.
