Have done Table Mountain and Stellenbosch (next door) Can't tell you anything about it as I was very very drunk
Still have a lot of contacts in Jo'burg and Durban but that's not going to help you as its about as far away as you can get within a country.

Are you talking permanently with family as well ?

The project is 7 to 10 years, so pretty much permanent I would say. The role is pretty much tailor made for me, still a long way off though.

I know a few people over there and our company is pretty big there so we wouldn’t be alone. Still a big step though.

Surprisingly she is quite keen. Usually shoots down any ideas I get about moving away.

The UK is a great place to live, there’s just too much looking back, nostalgia and stupidity at the moment. Would be good to have a break.

I had an offer for Hamburg in 2007 and the ex didn't want to go. So I didn't.

    Should have just gone.

Anything I can offer is obviously well out of date as it was twenty plus years ago when I was there, in fact it was only a few years out of apartheid but easily one of the most stunning countries on the face of Earth, It was very much a mans world (which was not a good thing if you were female) and I think it was the fact I was so innocent to what was going on, for example i was perturbed by the fact that in the house we had rented the sleeping area was closed off by a big steel gate in the corridor ! The one thing I can offer is vineyard tours and excessive heat does not make a good combination especially when you're in the back of a Landrover in Kruger Park the next morning

White South Africans make up 7.8% of the country’s population. But they more than 90% of the country’s wealth and a government land audit in 2017 showed that white people own 72% of the land.
Cosy consensus makes for a boring forum.

Ha, I once vomited copiously while wine testing hungover in Durban. Wasn't my finest moment.

Main question, what's the craft beer scene like in SA?
Socks before or after trousers, but never before pants. That's the rule.

    Its excellent: https://edition.cnn.com/2019/10/21/b...ntl/index.html

Though this is proper craft beer and, as many times as I have tried to like it, tastes utterly dreadful:

It wasn't a thing when I was there but times have changed in twenty years, I remember the black lads giving me a six pack of what they called Zamalek which turned out to be Carling Black Label, some burping going on that afternoon

Did a tour of NZ (followed the Lions in 05), wonderful place and people apart from when they get within 1 mile of a rugby ground when they turn into cunts, then change back immediately when they get about milw away. Considered moving there only so far away from family.

    Ghislaine Maxwell arrested. Joyous news.
When asked to name her greatest achievement Thatcher replied: 'Tony Blair and New Labour.'

After nearly 5 years of being estranged from my kids (now 14 and 16), I got a text message from my daughter (14) saying that she’s up for meeting to get our relationship back on track.

fantastic news mate - really pleased for you.
With interest rates at record lows, think the pocket money issue may be a red herring...

Having to wait till 15th July as appointments only - could go elsewhere, but been to the same place for years & on first named terms with him.

Anyway it's been 3 months so another 11 days is irrelevant
This year we will mainly be conquering Europe

(paused for the moment, but hopefully to be continued)
