Same here... I was five years old in Ď77 and Star Wars pretty much dominated my childhood and early teens... until I discovered footie, beer and women (natch).

Iíd pretty much written off the saga as I thought the last two were unmitigated pap.

Really enjoyed this one though! Go figure.

1917. Awesome. There's a family connection too I discovered at the end of the movie!

Yeah, loved this. Tense as fuck. Really immersive cinema. Definitely one to be seen on a big screen.

Need to go and see this - busy this week but if it's still at Frome next week will make the journey (cheap parking & only £4 a ticket is a bonus)

Dolemite Is My Name on Netflix. Really enjoyed this. I like Eddie Murphy when he's on form. Wesley Snipes is hilarious in it too.

1917 is an outstanding piece of cinema. Loved it.

Saw Just Mercy last night - cracking film about racism in American south, with some top quality acting.

Yeah it's very good. Sam Rockwell is one of my favourite actors.

Watched it the other night - very disappointing.

It is pretty aimless and plotless and without the usual sharp Tarantino dialogue; although Brad Pitt is very good.

    All IMHO.

    Uncut Gems on Netflix.

Unbelievably irritating film. Sandler's performance was decent enough (though calls for an Oscar are just silly), but the film had already lost me 30 mins in. I managed to stick with it and the last 1/4 was good, but over an hour and a half of incredibly annoying people shouting over each other in every scene was the main thing I took away from it.
Oh my god! Whitney's dead? How's Michael Jackson taking it?

It's mindless action fun. I enjoyed it, but then I enjoyed the first two...

Yeah, it's an odd one. Everyone in it is really annoying and the soundtrack is really grating. It's like everything has been set up to be as irritating as possible. But it did keep me watching to the end.

As music, yes. With loads of New Yorkers yelling continually over it, it got on my wick. But that was the idea so all good.

Not a new film, but we watched Hidden Figures last night, about the black female mathematicians working on the US space program in the '60s. Highly enjoyable.
