Seems only yesterday since that tearful retirement in Sweden in 1999. Even with all the millions we have nobody will ever touch you for excitement, brute strength, loyalty and most of all goals... Enjoy today with a wine or two Bully.

Happy Birthday God. His record will never be broken, and the vast majority of football fans across the world won't ever understand or appreciate how much he meant to us and quite why he is idolised so much.

Best striker any club could ever wish to have, best striker any fan could ever want to see. Something special that will never be equalled. Happy birthday God.

The way he hits a ball makes a lot of strikers today look crap. Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to a legend. My hero growing up

Why oh why didn't the dick heads give him more games for Engerlaaaand!

To be fair Lineker and Beardsley were a fantastic partnership and the likes of Sheringham, Shearer and Wright weren't bad either.

Wolverhampton Council have awarded him Freedom of the City along with Beverley Knight.

Happy birthday Bully!

Ian Wright had an appalling record for England and wrongly replaced Bully.

Taylor dropped Bully and started selecting Wright in his squads instead*. Wright's record for England was poor, Bully's was very good given the time he got on the pitch.

*Then he became Wolves manager and tried to sell Bully to Coventry.
