Yep. Should have lost to Spain in 1996 too, they battered us and had a perfectly good goal chalked off.

Cheers - had totally forgot I can't enjoy this tournament because of the funny coloured flag on the new kit. Ruined the Tournament for the 2nd time this year

I'd already decided to hate it because of Southgate picking his favourites such as Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford. So stubborn.

I liked the 1988 one, first official kit I ever had. Really like the current one too, have bought it and the new Italy shirt

I watched the 1988 video earlier when I was putting it altogether just to check everything worked properly. Still hard to believe that Luca Vialli is no longer with us (nor Andi Brehme who scored vs Italy in the group game).

Mancini and Ancelotti in the squad as well as Zenga. 1982 WC Final scorer 'Spillo' Altobelli still knocking about too

I quite fancy our chances of winning this tournament for a change thanks to our attacking options. Defence is a slight worry, but Southgate has naturally been cautious so if he gets central midfield combos right then that will help.

Anyone interested in a Euro 2024 Prediction League?

The format will be as follows.

3 sets of fixtures will be put up prior to the start of the competition for each round of group fixtures to predict the scorelines and the first goalscorer.

The second round fixtures would then be posted.
Then the quarter finals
Semi Finals
The Final

Points scoring will be as per the Premier League Prediction Contest (1 point for a correct result, 3 points for a correct result & scoreline and 3 points for correctly predicting the first goalscorer - Maximum points of 6 per fixture) As an added bonus you can predict the winner of the tournament before it starts and if you do so you will receive 10 points, 5 points for a losing finalist and 3 points for a losing semi-finalist. Results count only up to the end of normal time but the first goalscorer can be in extra time if played. The first penalty of a penalty shoot out will not count as the first goal scorer in a game.

Just to let you know that even if you think that there will be goalless draw you should still enter a first goalscorer. It gives you a chance of picking up 3 points if your prediction is wrong whereas no points are awarded for there being no goalscorer.

Amendments are allowed to your predictions prior to the first match of a round of fixtures kicking off on your initial prediction post. Amendments after this are allowed but must be in a separate post.

The three rounds of group fixtures will be posted as separate threads. You will also need to choose your winner of the tournament with the first round of group fixtures.

All are welcome to join.

If you have any questions then please feel free to put them in this thread.

Amazing thread work DW 👍

Agreed. I meant to start a thread myself but forgot in recent days. Glad I did now as this is better than mine would have been.
Thanks lads, nice for everyone to have all the resources there if they want them.

I believe 7th June is the deadline for the final squads so I'll do my best to get them all posted as and when.

My seven to miss out for England would be Trafford (awful season and nowhere near ready), Dunk (dreadful in the March games), Shaw (just because I don't see how he can possibly be fit), Gallagher (unfortunately doesn't have enough quality on the ball), Grealish (simply in no form at all or rhythm), Maddison (terrible for Spurs since his injury in November) and Bowen (simple weight of numbers, he isn't going to play ahead of the others, shame as I like him). But I suspect in reality none of Quansah, Jones or Wharton will go.

Just 2 weeks away I think England’s Achilles heal will catch us out late on in the tournament. Somewhere we’re probably going to have to shithouse a tight win and the defence probably isn’t up to it.
