The Race to be Relegated with Wolves, 24/25 Thread

We were the same, today was the first time we felt truly fucked and little chance of turning it around

May sound naive but today is the first time I've genuinely thought we're down.

With the weird situation with GON's position, the way the players are behaving, Fosun basically not arsed and us continuing to lose game after game regardless of the opposition quality, it's difficult to see a scenario where we stay up.

GON isn't turning anything round, and there's no realistic managerial saviour. Fuck.
See, I agree with this post.

Palace 2 up at Brighton, if they win they're effectively 8 points clear of us.

Everton in the 4 games before they played Gary O'Neil's Wolves: 0 goals
Everton vs Gary O'Neil's Wolves: 4 goals
Everton in the 4 games since they played Gary O'Neil's Wolves: 1 goal

Somewhere towards the start of this thread I thought there was a distinct bottom five: promoted three, Everton, Wolves, which is now showing in the table. With Palace winning it looks like they are going to be alright and they have a January with fixtures you'd expect them to get points from.

Previously I thought we had a manager worse than any of the other teams, now we have someone who you'd regard as at least as good as any of our relegation rivals (exception maybe to Ipswich). We're lacking in depth but we have some individual players who are much better than those other four. Pereira has given us a real fighting chance now. If we can get some signings for the defence in soon then I've gone from thinking we are dead and buried to looking like we stay up within a week. It's nice to watch games like Leicester/Man City earlier today and feel a vested interest in the result for our own chances.

January and early Feb are going to be extremely tough, especially if we don't get a half decent CB (who needs to hit the ground running) but I do have a bit of hope that we can somehow work a few results with this guy in charge. Hopefully Jeff doesn't really piss Vitor off over the next few weeks and gets told to fuck himself.

Yep they’re bad and I don’t think friedkin will allow Dyche to continue with their appalling football.
Don’t tell that stat to the English media

16 points at the halfway point when by and large it's been a clusterfuck with a crap manager. Equal that and we're on 32 points but we surely eclipse that with a grown up in charge?

Lop got 4 points from his first 3, Vitor has 7 without the fabled mini pre-season

Doing what we did today will see us through no problem ie getting points in games where you’re not expected to.
Not going down the August- November attitude of “it’s just too hard”
The last week will have been pretty demoralising for Leicester and Ipswich as they were probably hoping we were already finished.

How many after the first six will be a better benchmark. The next three games will be a much stiffer test I think.
Pessimistic me 🙂

I think 35 should have us safe. So a point per game which you have to think we’re capable of now. Suddenly everything looks a lot more positive!
Extrapolating points totals of every club means 29 points keep you safe.

I know it doesn't work like that but I stand by my prediction earlier in the season that 30 points will mean PL survival.

I think Saints and Ipswich will struggle to get to 30 points. A number of times Leicester have been extremely lucky in a number of games they’ve won so unless they improve dramatically I’d be surprised if they do a lot better in the second half of the season. Eight days is a long time in the PL as we now have a very good chance of staying up.

I think Soton are in real danger of getting near derby's record. 6 points halfway through the season, scored only 12 and conceded 39 (just 3 less than us!)!

Derby were on (I think) eight points at Christmas as they had their one win of the season already in the bag (Newcastle but I am buggered if I can remember if it was home or away).

Every season, it feels like there is traction to comment about x,y, z team could beat the Derby record, and every season they pull clear of the eventual total.

That Derby side were so unfeasibly bad it defies belief.

It was at home vs Newcastle with Kenny Miller scoring the only goal of the game.

They had 7 pts at the end of 2007 and finished with 11 for the whole season.

Of course they were promoted in 06/07 as playoff winners which was Mick’s first season in charge of Wolves.
