This isn't what I've said. I've said that if we didn't think he was worth 15m less than 6 months ago having a massively in depth Knowledge of the player, I'd be concerned if we suddenly paid 10/15m more on the basis of him doing exactly what he was capable of at the time we could have done so.

Similarly, if we'd sold Kilman prior to the season starting, he'd gone somewhere and played like he has, I'd be similarly concerned about our collective ability to judge players.

Fair enough. It doesn’t look great that we didn’t take the option and ended up short in midfield and might now address it at a much higher price. I suspect for that reason alone we’ll look at other targets, if we look at any of course.

Agreed on the last point, also that he probably wouldn't have come in and made a huge difference now which is what Lage has repeatedly said he wants.

He’s the missing pieces of the jigsaw - guess one ANO was Sanches, but that boat may have sailed, and the other was Botman - ditto.

I think I'd be happy with a genuine midfield option.

Being able to switch between 2 or 3 in midfield would be enough for me.

I just don't see us being able to switch to 4 at the back this season

A couple of months off, January being a difficult window, we are happy with what we have, Neto and Jonny coming back will be like new signings, not selling anyone is the most important thing etc

Bruno downplaying his chances of transfers in January . Seems to be trying a different approach this time . Looked for 3 or 4 in August and fell far short of that .
Maybe - look for less and get more will work .

To be fair he says he doesn't want to lose anyone and wants a couple of additions, ones for the first team not bench warmers. If he's on about a CB and CM and we get them then I think everybody would be happy with that.

He said a bit more than that in fairness. He certainly wants us to push on. I can't see Jeff ignoring him twice in a row.

I wasn't saying that's what he said, I was saying that's what'll be trotted out at the end of Jan. Bruno is already towing some of the well worn tropes. If we sign a CM/AM and CH who unequivocally improve the first 11 I will also be delighted. I won't hold my breathe though
