Overrated players

But the 1/4 is the only games he turns up in regularly goes missing in games.

Sigurdsson is a weird player. He contributes absolutely fuck all outside the final third. Never tackles, never chases back. Doesn't even link with strikers well. But he does get results.

David Platt was always overrated. Such an average footballer.

Just me but I always thought Frank Lampard was overrated, would just Ponce about then shoot and take penalties. Similar I suppose to Sigurdsson

(I know this is a mental view btw)

Yeh, this is mental. For a midfielder to score so frequently is not a fluke. He had a wonderful footballing brain , as shown by how good he was as he retreated deeper as his career wore down.

Lamps was amazing and more than anyone I've ever seen wrung the absolute most out of his ability.

Brilliant player. Got proper schooled in the 2002 FA Cup final. That never happened again.

Other way round for me, Lampard much smarter player in my eyes.
Ditto. Gerrard really wasn't very good when he ended up playing in front of the back four. That's not to slight him, he was an exceptional footballer and his partnership with Torres was sublime.

Lampard's performance in '03 is the best I've seen in any PL game against us. Only rivalled by VVD last season.

Lampard v Gerrard for me is similar to the Messi v Ronaldo one. One has more natural ability, but I'll always go for the one who's worked his arse off to get to the same level.

Lamps shouldn't be anywhere near this. Although he was ruined for me when a Chelsea mate pointed out to me that when not in possession he looked like a t-rex with his elbows in and wrists down...

At least unlike Pickford he didn't play in goal

Danny Batth, following on from the Bennett thread. I thought he was going to be awesome for us.

Not sure which of Lampard or Gerrard you think fits which description.

Robbie Keane the worst I've ever seen for that, often ran like he was doing a Mr Burns impression.

Pickford- Bang average keeper, too short , no reach, although Hennessey is a great reserve. Biscuit wrists
Johnson Glen- Where to start
Roger Johnson- came here with so much hype and truly sucked
Harry Maguire- 80 million? Fuck off. He isnt 10% of VVD
Chris Powell- one cap wonder for a reason
Jaimie O Hara- Give me strength. Ok on loan , then we signed him and it all went downhill
Tom Huddlestone- One pace wonder
Charlie Adam- what a twat
Joey Barton- do I really need to justify this pick?
Bojan- shocking.
Shane Long. Stealing a living

There you go- UK wankers 11 this century

In the same week in here, Lampard called overrated and Bully apparently shit at 1 on 1's.

Go home, TWF - you're drunk.

Dave Edwards
Adama Traore
Jesse Lingard
Toni Kroos
Faustino Asprilla
Harry Winks
Declan Rice
Darren Fletcher

I dont want to argue but in what parallel universe is cavani overrated?? If anything hes under rated, what other striker has had 10+ straight seasons of not only double figure goals but averaging 30 goals per season?? Going on goals alone, hes better than batistuta, come on now.
I can understand someone like weah, who was considered almost on par with pele and maradonna at the time, but cavani never got the credit he deserved.
I also disagree with players like lampard, yes they were super hyped but they were the best in their position in the league. Its like saying messi and ronaldo are overrated becaused theyre so hyped up- theyre the best.

Personally I always thought players like walcott, john stones, phil jones, barkley, pickford, eric dier, delli alli and lingaard were overrated... promising english youngsters with huge contracts hyped to death by media that are simply inconsistant or still promising youngsters in their mid 20s

Jack Wilshere who lived off that performance against Barcelona for years, it still get's mentioned now.

At his best he can be a tidy enough player, he's not great though and for years to hear some in the media you'd think he was the next Gazza.
