womens world cup?

That was members of the American women's team who said that about themselves vs. the American mens team. They proved their point I think. It was then picked up by the MSM and deliberately taken out of context to encourage their readership to scream "it's political correctness gone mad"

But it was the crowd booing Infantino and chanting equal pay.

Utterly stupid and misguided to think women's football should have equal pay given the two games huge differences. Even at country level the attendances aren't anywhere near. Certainly at club level the notion is laughable.

The US women's team definitely deserve equal or better pay than the men's team.

Proving their worth yes. Proving that they are on parity? Jury is well out. Big fish in a small talent pool at the moment.

Personally, I really hope the womens game gains popularity, credibility and draws support, sponsorship and funding and provides the best players with a decent living. But the 300k a game lady is a few years off and a lot of improvements are needed for that to happen.

I find this a silly suggestion. The women's competition is hugely inferior to the men's and the revenue generated at World Cups/ Gold Cups is incomparable.

The women's game in the US is superior, as are their results.

You think the women's league is superior to the MLS?

And again, the US women's team has inferior competition to the men's. The difference between the current Wolves team competing in the conference to competing in the PL. Both in quality and income.

The comparative achievements are better. I'm not into comparing technique between men's and women's game as thats stupid. It comes across as particularly odd that men's football supporters seem to endlessly need to prove the superiority of the men's game, we don't do it for other sports.

Oh be serious

Currently ranked 29 in the world. They would beat their women 5-0 at a canter , unfortunately.

We have pretty agreed that the standard is at best Conference so even the best team in the world are at best League one? Sop at the very worst the 29th best mens football team in the world would be championship standard.

Tennis is getting there after years of debate , as is golf but the skill levels in both those sports is more comparable between the sexes than shown in the football. I want to see the gender pay gap reduced to zero but to do that lots of improvements have to be made in attitude by governing bodies , sponsors and those that control the money, backed by perfromance and skill improvements from the athletes.

None of which I've said.

I think Cyber just proved my point.

I tried to stay deliberately out of comparing men's v women's for that reason. They're different games which is why I don't think we should be comparing pay.

Christ on a bike!

There are diffgerences between men and women you know. But take all the physical differences away and the skill level currently in the womens professional game is not great. It speaks volumes that Mark Sampson , coach of the England National team before his fuck ups has now landed a job in the back room staff at Stevenage town.

Women gymnasts. Better and more agile than men. There you go.

Yeah I agree with that. Pay should be based on the number of people who get enjoyment from the teams achievements - in the US I would imagine the women's national game scores higher in that area.

bollocks!

You pay to see the highest quality in whatever sport regardless of gender.

The better you are the more money you should command.
When looking at the best in their sport-
women golfers- technically excellent
Women boxers- technically excellent
women tennis players- technically excellent
Women footballers?

Yeah I agree with that. Pay should be based on the number of people who get enjoyment from the teams achievements - in the US I would imagine the women's national game scores higher in that area.

Where I do probably agree is that prize money should be equal or close to parity and that's mainly because FIFA can afford it.

Worthy winners, a good way ahead of the rest and they have set a serious benchmark. If others want to compete they have to

1. Pass better
2. Defend better
3. Keep the ball better

USA have been the best at all those in this tournament. Congrats to you Americans on here. Now you just need your men to start playing better :taunt:

I root for the american women and the german men, I'm all set. :D

In the US the womens team generates an equalish (sometimes slightly less, sometimes greater, in a 4 year cycle) than the mens team. And yet, while they're the ones winning, they are frequently flown in lower classes, booked at worse hotels, given lower quality meals, have access to worse training, etc. compared to the men. "BuT tHe MeN bRiNg In MoRe".... USWNT pay, relative to their revenue, is not comparable to the men. That's what the lawsuits against the american federation are all about.

I'm not going to get into this "the wimmunz not as gewd" argument because it misses the point. The last world cup was played on a bunch of astroturf... ASTROTURF!!! Can you imagine the men every having to do that in any FIFA tournament?? Absolutely ridiculous, and is part of the wider issue where the women are relegated to 2nd tier status. Think it's a worse product? Ok, don't watch it. Hey, guess what... maybe it's not for you.. And maybe spouting off about their inferiority at every opportunity is being an asshole? Mens football, which has been supported for decades and decades longer, is a better product? Dang what a hot take.

Whether they're better than the men or not is irrelevant. Someone is a dickhole if they believe the ladies shouldn't get some modicum of equal/fair treatment, whether it's pay by their federations or support by FIFA. Pushing the women to the peripheries of the sport just continues the cycle of them not being able to maximize their potential. What kind of a message does it send to girls everywhere by acting this way? Title IX is one of the reasons the US women are currently so dominant, and I hope it continues.
