I was sad to hear that Ray Wilson has passed away. He was one of the many fine full backs that Huddersfield produced. But Wilson was a class above the others, he was simply one of the finest left backs to grace the game.

Sir Alf Ramsay described him as one of the four world class players in the 1966 World Cup winning team, and I wouldn't argue with that.

One of 4 of the '66 side to sadly have Alzheimer's. Given 2 of the others died relatively young then 4/9 is a very high percentage which says to me there is very likely to be a link between football back then and the disease.
RIP Ray

Left Huddersfield for Everton in 1964 to be replaced by a 16 year old Derek Parkin.

R.I.P. Ray.
