So I was watching some of Harry Kane's Bayern highlights last night (rock and roll, eh) and I found myself shaking my head at the memory of a hot take of mine from his breakout spurs season.

I said - out loud in front of people - that he was just going through a purple patch, was too immobile, and he'd fade away into obscurity. If I'm honest with myself that early call has probably limited my appreciation of him throughout his career. Turns out he's pretty good.

So, take the opportunity to cleanse yourself of your historic terrible takes.

Two new threads in the space of as many days?

CAN EVERYBODY JUST CALM DOWN

I tend to banish my bad takes to distant memory so I’ll have to try and recall. There are bound to be many.

I think I've watched the same highlight reel recently. He looks very impressive - is the league a little slower there though?

My mates take the piss out of me for saying Luis Suarez “isn’t a natural goal scorer” back when he first signed for Liverpool. It’s not exactly what I said, I was more getting at that he wasn’t a finisher like Fernando Torres.

But then he went and scored around 300 goals in the next 10 years…

“Don’t shoot from there Dennison” as ball sailed past Southall at Wembley in the Centenary competition.

Oh that reminds me, I also shouted "for fucks sake Becks let somebody else take it" before the goal against Greece

Similar effort here vs Sunderland at Molineux in 2006 when I was imploring Jemal Johnson to pass as he unleashed an unstopable shot past Darren Ward.

"I fucking hate short corners" a millisecond before Doc nods in a short corner routine to open the scoring in the cup semi.

Because he’d leathered about 5 shots in a row in to the stands, I once said that I wish Ruben Neves would stop shooting from distance, shortly before he rocketed one in the top corner v Hull (?).

@Kenny doesn’t like to remind me of this every few months.

Calling Fer a 'tall Tommy Doyle' recently hopefully will prove to be a bad take. At least Fer should look good in the champ next season.

I have a vague memory of predicting Freddie Eastwood and Andy Keogh could be the new Bull & Mutch but that was probably based on desperation

The David Jones free kick, opening day vs Stoke, ball rolled to him, flicked it up and volleyed home...

He had tried this a few times the season before to terrible effect and as he stood over the ball I said rather loudly, "oh not this shit again", he then smashed the ball home!

In my defence he tried but never managed to do it again

I said Luke Shaw would go on to match Ashley Cole's tally of international caps.

Adam Lallana too slow to make it at Premier League level, a deluxe Andrew Surman.

I remember scoffing at the pre season news that Coady was put into a back 3.
