The Rugby Thread

Yep definitely was just pointing out they don’t win many series
It’s difficult to blend players - that’s why I think Ireland has a massive advantage in the 6N where the vast majority of their team comes from a single province.

That’s not how team games work though. The challenge is to build a functioning team in a short period of time in a game which is totally reliant on team work.

Quite.

Have a look at how Lukes Humphries and Littler got on last week in a darts tournament where you have to play as a team. Best two players in the world by a mile.

Spoiler: They didn't win the trophy.

And 4 Northern hemisphere sides pooling their best players together should do better than what they have
that blissfully assumes that all the best players in those four teams play in all the different 15 positions.

Look I think the lions are just a novelty that comes up every 4 years I just don’t think they’re as good as some make out, also I think it’s a bit unfair that France never get a shot at the lions over a series basis.

I’m not sure anyone thinks they are that good. It’s really not about that.

Just picked up a couple of tickets this morning on Twickets for the England XV v France XV this afternoon.

Not been to Twickenham before. I’m thinking a lot of drinking in the sun, not a lot of atmosphere and not much of a game? Hoping for more but not sure what to expect? I don’t mind, you can be brutal…

The Cabbage Patch is hugely overrated.

The Prince Blucher on Twickenham Green is a very decent hostelry.

Much as the stadium is basically Snake Mountain for someone with my rugby persuasions, even I cannot argue against it being a world class place for view.

Love a day out at twickenham. Great pubs and atmosphere is usually decent whatever the game. Trains are shit - better than Cardiff was in the 6N this season though, that was probably as all the Welsh left early :)

Thank for that. It’s not far in distance from here but a nightmare to get to. Decided to avoid trains in this heat so pre-booked parking a few miles away and will Lime bike from there.

Haven’t decided who’s alcohol free yet but tbh in this heat I reckon it’s best on soft anyway.

Looking forward to it.

I did a few Twickenham games with Wales. Even though we almost always got pummelled it was always a good day out.

I fondly remember about sixty a side stupidly drunk rugby on the pitches at London Welsh refereed by some lunatic on a unicycle. Utter carnage. Got to meet Terry Cobner which was ace.
