Burnley 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Coming about 10th or 9th suits Fosun perfectly means they get the extra cash for coming higher than expected but also don’t have to worry about needing a large squad to cope with Europe.17th is their priority then every position upwards is just bonus cash.
They’ll get caught out at some point as do most clubs who’ve got the attitude coming 9th is the same as coming 17th.

I think Gon will attract attention from other clubs now too. Depends if Jeff cares if he's poached or not though
He’s under contract and there’s only a tiny number of potential suitors who could possibly be seen as a better gig than ours.

They'll always be there, on Saturday's verdict thread we were told we should be grateful we don't have an FFP charge
Stands up to no scrutiny. We at worst could have signed someone who cost the same as the loans for Fabio and Sasa are saving. That’s before you even consider the revenue this year will be much higher than budgeted.

Like others have said, happy he’s had a pop at them. Not that it matters because Jeff will be sat in his ivory tower with his stupid smug grin slapped across his face as always.

Nuno moaned about squad size, Lage (despite being a clown) did the same. Lop walked because of it, now Gaz is doing the same.

4 managers and a familiar trend.

Jeff & Fosun need to get out of the club.

Be careful what you wish for. Taylor Swift could buy the club tomorrow but she’d still be hamstrung by PSR. I’m no fanboy of Jeff and the information that comes out of the club treats our supporters as simpletons but we’re still on the most sustained period of top flight football since the early 70s.

He should've had a pop at them in January, after the Albion game when his reputation was as high as it probably will ever be. More importantly, he actually could've influenced things then, albeit it was unlikely.

Still, better late than never.

This wasn't a terrible performance, and we could've nicked it. But a suitable squad and we're probably in an FA Cup semi-final and two points better off with a real shot of finishing in the top 8.

Such a shame, but we knew it was coming.

Looking at the table it’s just as likely we’ll come 13th as opposed to 8th.
That's mid table mediocrity for you. It's very fine margins between pushing for Europe and battling relegation...

For every match we've felt hard done by (United, Fulham, Sheff U) there's a match where we've had the rub of the green (Everton, Spurs, Bournemouth).

Tonight's result is a microcosm of our whole season. We could have lost, we could have won, but a point was just about right. All things considered we find ourselves exactly where we should be, on the night and over the season.

It first showed itself against Fulham, when he refused to pass to Fraser even when he was in a decent position, continued against Coventry when he added throwing his arms around into the mix. On Saturday Chiwome got the same treatment, tonight less arm waving but still a reluctance to pass to him. We all get that those guys shouldn't be on the bench let alone starting but for a senior professional to treat them that way is shite
It's not just Sarabia. A couple of times Chiwome made smart runs forward and he was completely ignored.

One run through the middle was a move started by Chiwome himself, his forward movement was begging for a return pass...

I think Gomes opted to play it square across midfield.

When did Nuno complain about squad size? Small squad was part of his ethos wasn't it?

Nuno moaned about squad size
Did he? He wanted a squad of 15 or 16

Nuno had a grumble his forward options outside of Raul was Fabio....then gave the thumbs up on signing Jose.

Agree with half of this.

Jeff - Yes. His manic way of operating pushed us to the brink of doing an Everton. From our pov he seems power mad. Although he has no taken a step back and pushed Hobbs into the firing line.

Fosun - Not something I actively want. Taken us from nothing EFL club to a nothing PL club. It's hard to take the next step...as we are seeing at former PL winners with obscene debt as they tried to keep up with the top 4. They just need some fresh eyes at the top of the club.

Then he rejected them.

Nuno is the one manager that got backed by Jeff...mainly as Jorge was in full puppet master mode

Edit: is that from when we had lost to Sevilla and we looked a bit knackered?
The start of Jeff becoming our chief scout

Happy to meet in the middle and have Jeff fired off to the sun.

That said, just because we’re now an established PL club, it doesn’t mean Fosun are absolved of criticism. I’ve lost count of the number of times things have seemingly been going well on the pitch but we’ve been hamstrung by their (Fosun/Jeff’s) negligence off it. We don’t need to do the whole big list of things that Jeff has fucked up again as we’ve done it a thousand times before.

All this talk and can pretty much guarantee GO will back away from his comments or say "taken out of context" when sat doing his presser on Friday

One comment in 4 years?

He did have a few more but it's all well into his time here, he was originally the factor behind the much smaller squad but later changed and made it clear he needed to learn and adapt his thinking about it, which was around the Raul injury.

Not sure what they are counting as the factor, but the transfer market site has us as having a squad of 23 which is 2nd smallest. It's missing Chiwome and the other lad they brought on recently, but it still indicates we should be able to sustain the finances of slightly more actual professionals?

With a small squad good recruitment is essential. You can’t afford to keep making mistakes like Silva, Sasa and Guedes.
