Man City 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

There is a definite history between Hackett and Riley. However, in this case, Hackett is bang-on. Riley is the weak leadership cog that is making the PGMOL the laughing stock of European football. Until he goes the old guard of Moss, Mariner, Dean and others will continue to referee and...

    RIP Ron Flowers

Like you, Bertie, I remember Ron Flowers very well. He was a class performer and a class gentleman. The highlight I remember of his playing days was when he scored against Newcastle in the third round replay of the FA Cup at Molineux in January, 1960, the year that Wolves went all the way to...

Aston Villa (A) 16/10/2021 3.00pm Build Up & Match Thread

Raul started on the bench tonight in El Salvador. He came on in the second half and scored a penalty in the 90th minute. He didn't have too much to do, so as long as the private jet arrangement has a bed, he should be fit and ready for Villa on Saturday.

    Wolves 0-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

Me too. I agree to disagree. It's all down to interpretation. My background as a former national referee and assessor is influencing my judgment.

Yes, the next frame shows him turning to the right into Sa.

    Wolves 0-1 Tottenham: Verdict Thread

I agree entirely. Both penalties should not have been given, so if you give one, you have to give the other. But, as Slink says, the contact with Sa gave the referee a decision to make and the angle he saw it from he would have missed the dangled leg. But VAR should have reversed it because it...

    General Wolves News

A small corrective. The goal in injury time was not a penalty, that came earlier and was saved. It was quite a game. The Canadians took it to the Mexicans (2-3 melees when they wouldn't back down) but narrowly lost in the end. Corbeanu again made a good cameo and continues to improve all the...

    General Wolves News

I only saw the highlights, so I may be influenced by the wonderful move where he went around the Costa Rican right full-back to roll the ball across the six yard box which, but for a tremendous save by the keeper, would have registered a third goal for Canada. He looked good to me.

    General Wolves News

I agree he's not ready for the PL yet but he is a good prospect. And playing alongside Alphonso Davies (of Bayern) and Johnathan David (of Lille) in the Canadian national team will help his development. He could well make the first team in a couple of years, he's still young.

Enjoy Toowoomba. Queensland has some wonderful countryside and Brisbane is a fine city. When do you go?

    God's Footballer

Gees, guys, I watched Roy Swinbourne, Peter Broadbent, Johnny Hancocks, Dennis Wilshaw, Billy Wright, and Jimmy Mullen (my favourite) in the 1950s. You're making me feel so old!!!

    Euro 2020

I always take seriously what Mark Clattenberg says. He is very objective about the leadership of David Ellery and Mike Riley (i.e, he doesn't think much of it) and that's the reason why he was never given top games and why he prematurely decided to retire after doing the Champions League Final...

    Let's talk about Nuno....

To this, I would like to add a fourth, Stan Cullis. He managed Wolves from 1948 to 1964, setting the tone for the inauguration of the European Cup with the glorious triumphs of the 1950s, winning the league twice (1957-58, 1958-59) and narrowly coming second to Burnley by one point in 1959-1960...

    The R.I.P. Thread

John Dawes was the captain of the British Lions who beat the All-Blacks in NZ in 1971. I remember it vividly as if it were yesterday. A great tour, a great victory and a great captain who revolutionized the way rugby was played in the 1970s.
