Well sending plenty packing as they are hitting the 90 day limit. Unless the EU change that rule (they wont) or they get visas then bye bye it is.
Voted to leave, got what they wanted and now paying the price because they didn't realise they would be classed as immigrants themselves.
Spain actually made it easier to apply for long term visas but part of that process included the requirement for good health insurance and hundreds refuse to get it because they can pop home and get it free on the NHS.

No discussion about the jabs on here?
I had the Astra Zeneca. 24 hours feeling like shit but after then fine. The EU stance re vaccines is laughable and completely vindicates a leave vote. Just look at the numbers! They are in disarray! I am no Boris fan but the figures are damning for Brussels. The pandemic could not have come at a better time for Brexit to be fair. The impact of Brexit is negligible given the covid problem. More luck than judgement but it’s handy😂😂

It's not about tourism. Economically it won't cost them much. Glasgo will correct me, but i don't think it applies to demonstrable business owners

It's been done, scroll up. The poster that said our success was because of Brexit hasn't posted since, because it's bollocks and easy to prove as such

Yeah, dunno how they will cope without a bunch of insular pensioners.
Ha!
Remember how much of Spain’s income is tourist or retirement funded

Well that’s their failing. You can’t cherry pick. I have over a dozen friends or family settled in Spain. No issues for them. Guess they coughed up

Discussed on the Covid thread but even if we were part of the EU we could have gone our own way.
It's been a shambles but looks like they are sorting shit out. France has done over 1m doses in 3 days and the J&J vaccine arriving in huge numbers will see a lot of the EU protected in 1 dose and that will be the catch up. (We haven't approved that yet and when we do we won't get it until July).
The EU's mishandling of the vaccines actually hits us as well, so as we have seen this week we have all kissed and made up. Normality doesn't resume until the world is vaccinated.

Oh and 1 thing doesn't make Brexit worth it. Ask those who are watching their business collapse due to it.

We will see loads coming home and moaning but after 90 days you are an illegal immigrant unless you obey the rules of the country you are in. Alanis Morissette on standby I believe

I think the general consensus is that Brexit is fine so far for the majority and a lot of that is thanks to covid but he ho.

So the majority who voted for Brexit without really understanding it are happy with it because of a vaccine situation that has nothing to do with it whatsoever? Well at least there's a consistency

That’s not quite true is it and that’s also not what I said. However, I would be lying if I did not acknowledge that the pandemic has really helped Brexit and then the EUs abysmal roll out of a vaccine further vindicated it. If we were still in the EU we would not have done anywhere near the numbers we have. And that’s under bumbling Boris Johnson ffs! The EU comes out of both the Brexit negotiations and the response to the pandemic with little credit. Come on Scotland Time for your little rebellion next lol

Just the 75% drop in y.o.y. food exports to EU. Have to acknowledge stockpiling & Covid but still...

Thought the uk doing well with the vaccine was due to capitalism and greed according to our glorious leader, who quickly retracted the statement and said "let's pretend I never said that"

Unless its been resolved and not reported, isn't our fishing fleet on its knees due to brexit and Johnson selling them down the river.
Think its too early to say its going to be ok or a complete disaster.
Have I dreamed that atm the paperwork issues are only for exports and on 1st April imports will also be affected?

There's no "what ifs" when it comes to whether Brexit helped the vaccine rollout or not. We were still in the EU and bound by their laws last year. The vaccines have only been given temporary licences in this country because that is all MHRA were legally allowed to give without EMA consent. So claims we couldn't have gone on our own are out the window because we did.
As Syco points out the grace period on some legislations being paused is soon coming to an end, and we already have the EU preparing legal action because our government has unilaterally decided to ignore the rules regarding NI. So it's not exactly getting better anytime soon.

Imports from the EU have been affected too. Extra costs due to Custom duty is one reason. I used to get regular beer deliveries from a Dutch based retailer up until the end of last year. They are not exporting to the UK because of all the additional costs to their business.

There was an article in the Gruniad yesterday regarding a cheese exporter. He used to send £30 packs of cheese all round Europe and had approx £250k of turnover from it. Disappeared overnight due to a £180 food export certificate required with each package. He had a government minister ring him up to offer support which was sorry I can’t do anything for you - Have you tried selling to the states or emerging markets? The reply was that shipping costs meant that it wasn’t price competitive.
That’s your problem in a nutshell. Selling to your nearest neighbours with similar costs is doable. Selling further afield is costly due to transportation or you are competing with low labour cost countries.

The need to find distributors is an extra cost if you want to avoid large custom costs so there is little way around the complete fuck up Brexit is.

I despise people who voted for Brexit.
